Do you ever listen to this hammer head Ted Nation on WEEI?

I only listen to WEEI when we're in the Boston area (before/during/after a game). The guys on the weekend are talk shows are pretty good from what I've heard.

We can't get WEEI here where I live (north of Hartford, CT). I guess I could stream it, but it looks like they have a pain-in-the-neck registration in order to listen live, which I don't feel like doing at the moment...

What's he saying?

You know dern well I'd rather have the Red Sox win the East. I was rooting for them all last year.

It's not that I hate the Yankees. It's that I hate Steinbrenner's approach to baseball: buying a pennant. There's nothing more satisfying to me to see the smaller payroll beat the bigger one.

Yep... David vs Goliath.

Neither the Sox or the Yankees are going to win the Series this year. Might be good if you get stuck playing the Indians in the opening round.

The Yanks are arguably as hot as Cleveland (NY has won 9 of its last 10 games, Cleveland 8 of its last 10.) Besides, Chicago could end up as the wild card team, at this rate!

Well, we're not dead, yet-- just on life support.

Oh, and I kept Travis Lee out, too. Gomes and Lee BOTH went 2-4 with 2 RBI and 2 R.

Oh, well. The guy I'm facing will probably lose every pitching category, except maybe total Ks, and that's not a given. He's had collecting stats for him, so far this week: Kazmir (6.92 ERA), Timlin (810.00 ERA), Buehrle (6.00 ERA-- Thanks, Tribe!), Liriano (14.73 ERA)-- with a save from Wickman. Can you say, "ouch?" It might be enough for it to be impossible to come back from.

I have Báez (4.50 ERA, 2 saves), Wakefield (5.00 ERA), Oswalt (4.50 ERA, 1 win). Not great, but acceptable.

I have Mulder, Carpenter, Contreras and Brandon McCarthy left. He has Lowry, D-Train, Zambrano and Loaiza. I think we break even for the most part with the remaining starts.

You have outplayed us and deserve it. RJ has come up and earned his paycheck.

Ted Nation 'went off' on air the day Nomar was traded. He went insane screaming ( I am not exaggerating ) things about Nomar that he presented as fact but were anything but.

" Nomar hates this town, he hates you, me and every single person in this town. He has never liked this town, never appreciated a &^&()&@^ thing " - a complete screaming rage at any caller who was disappointed to see Nomar go

Also, had tried to get Jimmy Williams in to his show and interview him. Ted: " We have invited to pick him up with a limousine and give him and his wife a gift certificate to any restaurant they want " - Jimmy of course never even replied.

Anyone who knew anything about Jimmy Williams knew that he was far too down to Earth to respond to a Limousine and dinner ( like he is some hick who had never eaten anything but TV dinners and drove a tractor.)

Right now hes just ranting about ' don't panic, this team has worked hard all year ' blah, blah, blah. With some hambone Sox fan caller screaming over him
" The Sawx Dint Drop dah Hammahhhh!!!! "
I turned it off. I catch some of his shows by accident after listening to the baseball radio broadcasts of WEEI. At some point, I usually get up from my office and turn the radio off.
The weekend shows of WEEI are very good. The day time shows are as well with varying quality.

LOL! Sounds like that crazy Frank from Gloucester guy (I think that's his name). Have you ever heard him screaming and yelling on those WEEI talk shows? Too funny, except the guy is right on the edge of giving himself a bad heart attack!

Weird behavior by Ted Nation regarding Nomar. We've heard his shows a few times after weeknight games. I don't like his show as much as the weekend one with the group of guys (can't remember their names) and the sportswriters. We'll tune in to Nation's show for our final game at Fenway, Thur. Sept 29 - Sox vs Toronto - to see what he has to say. I'll sign up on WEEI one of these days...

Is Timlin's ERA really 810.00? His arm must be SORE!

As for Baez, he only gets better. Of course he'd have to. At Cleveland he was the New Century Cardiac Kid. Yes, I'm still bitter.

Fwank Fwum Gwastah?

Oh sure..I know that lunitic. He calls all the time. I think he has an inside line. One of the regular WEEI hosts is also a minister. he took good ol Fwank to lunch once. Apparently. he has no teeth and a prison record. ( sounds like a yankee fan!)His lack of teeth gives him that very odd speech pattern while hes ranting about the New York Chokees.

They do get some serious wackos on WEEI. What really drives me nuts is folks talking over each other as happens with that station.
If you'd ever want to study all the various dialects, and accents of beantown and its environs - tune in WEEI. I often hear accents I cant place and I'm from here!

Will you be able to listen to WEEI tomorrow during the day? If so, take a listen to the 10:00 AM show. Dale and Holley show. Good guys who really know thier sports. The 2:00 am show can be a lot of fun but with up to 4 or 5 hosts. usually a known retired athlet as well. Thats one show Fwank will call in to. But he calls them all!~

Same thing happens on WFAN... 660AM out of NYC.

LOL, I have to admit we've had a pretty good laugh at some of the accents we've heard on WEEI. Being from the Hartford area (NYC/NJ area when I was really young... AGES ago!), I don't have anything resembling a Boston, Massachusetts or Rhode Island accent... Aw, I feel kinda left out. ;-)

LOL... I'm too chicken to do it, but my husband might put in a call to Ted. He tried to call WEEI a couple of times (that show with the group of guys) as we were driving to Fenway, but he gave up, it was such a long wait. I have a feeling the Ted Nation show doesn't have such a long wait...
