I did turn off Zone Alarm, but still getting the status message of no access because no address.

Just went to Device Manager and checked the properties of the Realtek adapter (regular internet). Under Advanced - Property: Network Address, it just shows "Not Present" and it does have a place above that to click on to enter a value. Should I enter a Value, and if so, which number should I enter? I DO HAVE regular internet connection (just not the wireless) so maybe I shouldn't put in a value here........don't want to mess up the regular internet connection.

Under the Advanced Properties for the Broadcom adapter (wireless), it has different properties, but it does have "Locally Administered MAC Address" and for this it shows ""Not Present" --- again I can enter a Value for it too, but don't know if this is the correct thing to do.

Not just Zone alarm is the problem. Norton and McAfee have privacy monitors as well. Those impede your access. Same with the Windows firewall. Also, make sure you disable any other connection to the internet on your lap top. It is my experience that sometimes that gave me trouble with my laptop as well.

Linksys is very good by phone. And I used this website http://www.practicallynetworked.com/ way back when.

I'm on my laptop now through my linksys wireless router. And, I had no trouble with it.

Be patient, it's probably something simple that you will laugh at later (okay much later).
