When we were kids we lived in the projects. At night...the back courtyard would get quite loud with happy adults.

My brother and I shared a bedroom. We would turn a fan on to drown the sound out, too. It was a comforting sound to hear the fan oscillating.

When I was a detective and worked the night shift I got into he habit of the fan when I slept, have done it all my adult life.

When I was a boy , we HAD to have fans, no A/C was around.
