If he replaced the spark plug wires, recheck the firing order. 1-8-6-5-4-3-7-2 vs. 1-5-4-6-2-3-7-8 will get ya every time! Been ther done that on a dark, cold winter's night, when the correction enabled a drive to Arby's for a cheap dinner. [I can't believe I just related that 30-year-old memory. JEEZ!]
What two engines do those firing orders fit? [Question for the gallery... Make and displacements must be correct to win! (No prize but bragging rights!)]

I have easy access to 2 guys who are Diesel Mechanics (employees of Son #2). Can they answer my question?

How much time do I get to answer this question? Wh, as much time as it takes you to tap that into a search engine, an apt metaphor, I think... Hee, hee!

If I answer that, I will give away the answer, but, yes, if they are not too young...

(We're talking point sets and condensers in the distributor now, not electronic ignition!)
To: Iowa Granny
Back down? If you mean what I think you mean, it would cause their cars not to fire up at all...

They are young, W. One is probably 35, the other probably 25. They are great diesel mechanics and keep a fleet of tractors running 24/7

I'm a day late (according to East coast time, at least) but Happy Anniversary, Iowa Granny!
And, kassie, I wasn't here on your Anniversary to extend my congratulations to you. Glad your hubby was home for the event.
