"Goodbye, farewell and amen"
Life's changes are always such that you never expect them, and they take a minute or three to get used to when they occur.
My life is taking a turn now that is forcing me to give up writing Ramblings' Journal.
I've accepted a new position that will preclude me from continuing my writings here. So I'm pulling the plug on R/J in order to focus on the new opportunity that has been placed before me.
Contrary to the opinions of others, I'm not running for office (I don't have the patience), nor am I joining a monastary. But I am turning the page on this chapter of my life, and moving forward. I'm very thankful for the friendships I've developed as a result of the blog, and I'm still going to be around -- you never know when an e-mail from me or a note in your comments section will show up to jab you or give you a thumbs up.
I want to say a special thank you to my Conservative Brotherhood bretheren, and encourage you to take a look at their blogs -- they are each fantastic writers in their own right. Their views are varied and they are each outspoken in their own ways. Their work is beginning to show up elsewhere, which makes me both happy and proud to know them.
The other blogs I've participated in -- Blogcritics and The Dead Pool -- are both worth your time and your thoughts. (Laurence, I'm still in the pool, even though I don't have a bunch of points. And Eric, I'm sorry that I hadn't had the opportunity to do more critiques in the past.)
A huge thank you to the Mu.nu community -- they've been incredibly supportive and fantastic. Pixy, you're the best.
I know I'm forgetting folks, and I apologize to you in advance.
I've asked Pixy to pull the plug next weekend.
Life's changes happen all the time, and for reasons known and unknown. All I can do is to step out on the path that God has lain for me, and know that He is at my side during my journey. I'm also happy to have my wife and my kids with me - they help keep me grounded. After twenty years (it'll be twenty years in a week and a half) of wedded bliss, I'm certainly happy.
Thanks again to everyone. God bless you all, and I'm sure we'll see each other 'round the 'net.
'Bye.
I didn't read that thread, but I've been here long enough to know that there are plenty of anti-intellectuals on this furom who have the liberal attitudes that whitey is always at fault for everything and that anyone who wants to secure the boarder is a mean cold racist.
I am not a racist, but I've had enough of the politcal correctness that issues of race can only be talked about if a minority is making a point. If you don't like it, then go somewhere else or get Jim Robinson to ban me.
I generally leave for 6 months or more because the "true" conservatives around here are so tiresome. I come back during really big events but don't usually last much beyond the event that brings me. I admire your ability to stick it out.
In other word you don't have a definition and will use the race card like a liberal to smear anyone you don't like.
You and I are still here. ;-)
Honestly, this whole issue really irritates the heck out of me. We have hundreds of really wonderful people here are FR (regular posters). A few nerds shouldn't have to power to run off our FRiends. We all need to get a lot meaner with the abuse button.
Or we all need to grow a thicker skin and sharpen our arguments.
"Surrender" is spelled O-P-U-S.
LOL......I forgot the ID folks. Patrick Henry is one of those who still ensures that this forum is not taken over by the science-hating "sun revolves around the earth" kind.
Oh, I've never even looked at those.......LOL. I *knew* better than that.
I learned early on that it was just better to stay off some threads; I once ventured onto a stem cell discussion thread and mentioned that my sister had had ovarian cancer and that she had had stem cell replacement to help her stave off infection and I believe it permitted her to live three years longer than she would have.
Before I could even get out that they were her OWN stem cells, some kind "Christian" woman on here informed me that my sister had "lived long enough and she didn't need to have a dead fetus' stem cells to prolong her life.
I've pretty much avoided abortion and "Christian" threads since then.
If you cannot prove a poster has made a racist statement, it is irresponsible to imply that they are, in fact, a racist.
What a hypocrite you are, All Im doing is illustrating your own absurdity. This entire thread is bashing people who you claim to be closet racists because you MUST be right when in fact you have no idea.
A little off?
And the Flood was a little damp.
If you don't like it, then go somewhere else or get Jim Robinson to ban me.
** Oh my friend I'd sooner leave than go groveling to Jim Rob about you. I could give a rat's ass what you say.
Try being a Christian in an evolution debate. Talk about needing thick skin! :-)
Seriously, though, I hope the two fellows who left come back. I always thought their contribution here was positive.
Darn it! Yes, I did!!
YES
When I click on your name it does say this account has been banned or suspended. Neat trick.
