"Goodbye, farewell and amen"
Life's changes are always such that you never expect them, and they take a minute or three to get used to when they occur.
My life is taking a turn now that is forcing me to give up writing Ramblings' Journal.
I've accepted a new position that will preclude me from continuing my writings here. So I'm pulling the plug on R/J in order to focus on the new opportunity that has been placed before me.
Contrary to the opinions of others, I'm not running for office (I don't have the patience), nor am I joining a monastary. But I am turning the page on this chapter of my life, and moving forward. I'm very thankful for the friendships I've developed as a result of the blog, and I'm still going to be around -- you never know when an e-mail from me or a note in your comments section will show up to jab you or give you a thumbs up.
I want to say a special thank you to my Conservative Brotherhood bretheren, and encourage you to take a look at their blogs -- they are each fantastic writers in their own right. Their views are varied and they are each outspoken in their own ways. Their work is beginning to show up elsewhere, which makes me both happy and proud to know them.
The other blogs I've participated in -- Blogcritics and The Dead Pool -- are both worth your time and your thoughts. (Laurence, I'm still in the pool, even though I don't have a bunch of points. And Eric, I'm sorry that I hadn't had the opportunity to do more critiques in the past.)
A huge thank you to the Mu.nu community -- they've been incredibly supportive and fantastic. Pixy, you're the best.
I know I'm forgetting folks, and I apologize to you in advance.
I've asked Pixy to pull the plug next weekend.
Life's changes happen all the time, and for reasons known and unknown. All I can do is to step out on the path that God has lain for me, and know that He is at my side during my journey. I'm also happy to have my wife and my kids with me - they help keep me grounded. After twenty years (it'll be twenty years in a week and a half) of wedded bliss, I'm certainly happy.
Thanks again to everyone. God bless you all, and I'm sure we'll see each other 'round the 'net.
'Bye.
My weakness are the Windows vs Linux threads that are as vicious as any on FR.
rdb3 used to be a regular on those threads but I think he grew weary of them as well. I used to reply to them too but gave up and mostly lurk.

Why is the post to showing UNKNOWN?
I hate to type your name.
I had the Mods pull a message I meant to send to you privately.
I'm having a bad "technical" day on the computer......LOL.
LOL! Too bad you had it pulled. It would have found it and we'd have more proof.
As someone who is anti-illegal immigration, I think the racist line is crossed in this area on the NON anti-illegal threads. For example, I've seen threads unrelated to illegal immigration or immigration of any kind that mention someone with an hispanic surname and there will be at least one reply of "Hmm, I wonder if they're here illegally." And I can also tell you that it bothered RDB3 a lot that there was some "FReeper Apathy" regarding the racist posts.
Check out mhking's home page on FR -- lights out for a while.
Sorry to see you go, Michael -- I hope you really will be back.

Sometimes a big strong margarita is helpful too.
So true, so true.
My very best to mhking and rdb3 in all they do. Somehow, I have a hunch we'll meet again. Bad people always show up; but the real gift, the joy, is when decent people meet up, again. rdb3 and mhking are very decent men.
I think you are remembering the "question about porn"...I know porn when I see it...
But they aren't conservatives. They just ponyback conservative issues; but their agenda is VERY different. And they aren't upfront about it. They are, IOW, the flipside of the liberals in re "philosophy"-- both are hateful.
The poster -- who just got banned? If he'd a left off his last sentence to Howlin -- it wouldn't have constituted baiting. The poster baited. Instead of explaining, or communicating, the poster baited.
Sad. I was on a thread about a week ago and I lamented to rdb3 that there actually are racist sounding, long time Freepers.
Come back guys!
That is so true. However, I will say that it is easier to take the criticism when you have all three branches of government...:)
:-(
Sad about their departure. I wish them both well in their journeys, and hope they might reappear here some day.
Would you care to name some of these "transparently racist" freepers? I personally cannot think of any.
I sent you freepmail, but would like to apologize here as well. I was upset that the guys left last night. Combine that with the fact I should have been in bed many hours earlier and that all the bickering grates on my nerves, I became irritated with you last night. Not so much with what you were saying, but the fact that you guys just continued to argue that appeared at the time to be incessant.
I should have turned off the computer and gone to bed instead of jumping on your case. I do apologize.
I appreciate all the accolades (though I personally don't think I deserve 'em), but I ain't dead yet...
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Thank goodness! Welcome back. :)
