Goodbye, farewell and amen (mhking's blog)
Rambling's Journal ^ | Sept 14, 2005 | Michael King

"Goodbye, farewell and amen"

Life's changes are always such that you never expect them, and they take a minute or three to get used to when they occur.

My life is taking a turn now that is forcing me to give up writing Ramblings' Journal.

I've accepted a new position that will preclude me from continuing my writings here. So I'm pulling the plug on R/J in order to focus on the new opportunity that has been placed before me.

Contrary to the opinions of others, I'm not running for office (I don't have the patience), nor am I joining a monastary. But I am turning the page on this chapter of my life, and moving forward. I'm very thankful for the friendships I've developed as a result of the blog, and I'm still going to be around -- you never know when an e-mail from me or a note in your comments section will show up to jab you or give you a thumbs up.

I want to say a special thank you to my Conservative Brotherhood bretheren, and encourage you to take a look at their blogs -- they are each fantastic writers in their own right. Their views are varied and they are each outspoken in their own ways. Their work is beginning to show up elsewhere, which makes me both happy and proud to know them.

The other blogs I've participated in -- Blogcritics and The Dead Pool -- are both worth your time and your thoughts. (Laurence, I'm still in the pool, even though I don't have a bunch of points. And Eric, I'm sorry that I hadn't had the opportunity to do more critiques in the past.)

A huge thank you to the Mu.nu community -- they've been incredibly supportive and fantastic. Pixy, you're the best.

I know I'm forgetting folks, and I apologize to you in advance.

I've asked Pixy to pull the plug next weekend.

Life's changes happen all the time, and for reasons known and unknown. All I can do is to step out on the path that God has lain for me, and know that He is at my side during my journey. I'm also happy to have my wife and my kids with me - they help keep me grounded. After twenty years (it'll be twenty years in a week and a half) of wedded bliss, I'm certainly happy.

Thanks again to everyone. God bless you all, and I'm sure we'll see each other 'round the 'net.

'Bye.

had "lived long enough

Now that is among the most frightening things I have ever heard about a post here.

Imagine how I felt when I read it.

Why don't you start a "Howlin made a remark about Christians butting in so I had to do it too to prove her point."

Because that is not the way that forums work. Forums are for discussion and this thread was attacking Christians. I simply participated to repel that attack. It does nothing to "detract" from the direction that this thread was heading.

Ok I give. It was the Schiavo threads that brought in the dirt. I just don't know how or why. But FR used to be a much better place. People were nicer.

I could really care less about the length of time on FR.

Then why did you bring it up?

My point is that Christians were getting blamed for driving mhking and rdb3 off.

You didn't read the thread, did you?

Not one person on here said anything close to that.

I'm glad that was your last post to me as I get tired of correcting the misinformation.

This topic was not titled "Lay in wait like a vulture for somebody to mention the word "Christian" to attack-LIVE".

I simply read the thread and responded to a direction that I disagreed with. Sorry if you have a problem with that, but that's the way threads work. Goodnight...

It was the Schiavo threads that brought in the dirt.

No way; it's been here, bubbling under us all for a long time; just different things bring it to the surface.

Think of it as a subculture -- or maybe a parallel universe!

Basic civility. I just don't know where it went...

I'd hate to handicap it, but I'm not optimistic.

I hope the chances of them coming back to FR is a little higher at least of Bill Cowher winning a big playoff game.

;-)

I don't know what stormfronters are but I don't think that mhking and rdb3 were the kind of people who get "chased off" of anywhere. That's my opinion from reading their posts for years. Anyways, I think they may just be cooling off (I hope) and will be back.

Agreed.

I rather discuss more productive things like Beyonce's cellulite.

LOL ........ or Michael Jackson in Lycra being spotted at a water park in Dubai.

but there were several posters on that thread that were only giving a different take on why the bridge was closed and they were attacked just as vehemently as those that were truly posting racist comments.

True.... they were all lumped together improperly.

Wish you guys would come back, you are an asset here.

I saw alot of the racist stuff and really hoped it wouldn't drive you guys away. Growing up in a river town in the country's methamphetamine capital, I know well that low brow mentality is not particular to any one race.

The people here who tried to push that crap simply because of what happened in NO have been in their safe little suburbs for too long. Of course, if they really looked around they might realize that their little paradises aren't so sweet after all. And the burbs are usually quite white.

So I must be a rascist according to you based upon my post?

What do you define as a racist?

Someone who makes assumptions or generalizations about every member of a race based on the actions of some or one member of that race....that's one good definition, though certainly there might be other definitions.

I see you got suspended/banned already, but certainly you're still reading this. LOL

HR, I think Michael's final "I am tired" post plus the conspicuous absense of FR in his Ramblings farewell are telling. I'm not sure he feels we deserve an opus and he wouldn't be entirely wrong in that regard. Of course I don't speak for Michael and I could be reading way more into this than is warranted. But then again ...
