Does danger lurk in your kitchen?
Picture this: a mother is cooking in her kitchen. Are the pots and pans she is cooking in sloooowwwwlllly endangering her family's health? The folks in the scare-mongering biz certainly want you to think so!
Several major media outlets, such as NBC's Today show, have suggested that a chemical compound (PFOA) used to make Teflon and other non-stick coatings may pose a risk to consumers who cook with the Teflon-coated cookware.
Also, two law firms recently filed a $5-billion class-action suit, saying DuPont failed to warn consumers about the dangers of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) a chemical that is supposedly in Teflon.
Teflon products dont contain PFOA. Theyre simply manufactured using PFOA, none of which ends up in the finished product. So the truth of the matter is that your Teflon coated pots and pans are safe.
As usual, though, reporters are confusing the issue and scaring lots of folks. Theyre saying that the Teflon chemical might cause cancer, so your cookware may not be safe.
Guess they haven't read the overwhelming number of articles and reports to the contrary:

This is great! When my husband gets home, I'll tell him we have to eat out from now on.
Now you've spoiled the ending!
If nothing sticks to Teflon, how do they get it to stick to the pans?
The good news is we don't know when!
I remember when EMS and the Fire Department had to come to the apartment adjacent to mine because some idiot decided to barbecue INSIDE HIS APARTMENT, with the windows closed no less!
How are your redneck house and car alarms?
The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling... oh wait... that's Chicken Little... I'm Henny Penny... my mistake.
:o)
Everything is fine here. Hope you're fine.
Just ducky!
Depends on whether or not I'm doing the cooking!
Is your washcloset breeding Bolsheviks?
Great. It's 5:00 and my tired self is going home. Hope to see you soon.
Ingesting a little Teflon is child's play for a cast iron stomach.
I once crewed on a halibut long liner vessel where the huge go to hell stew pot was never cleaned on two week fishing trips. When the contents got down less than half, cookie just dumped in fresh meat and veggies.
My kitchen is a virtual death trap.
Not only do I cook on Teflon, but under the sink are the ingredients to make a chemical weapon. There are a number of very sharp knives. How will I ever survive?
Don't forget to worry about the BPA in your plastic water bottles.
Hey,
You got a new profile page profile! Pretty wife, cool airplane. I'm on the verge of doing a profile page, but I don't have cool airplane photos to post.
Rest yourself, it's nearly, almost Friday! We have friends in Alabama, do you know Brad and Sherrill?
I don't drink bottled water. The most dangerous thing in our kitchen is the Ruger P95DC 9mm auto in the drawer to the right of the stove. It is only dangerous when my wife or I chose for it to be ; )
I don't know them. Are they Freepers?
