Top 7 Smells (vanity)
PA Times | 9/14/05 | Dr. Pissant

Posted on 09/14/2005 8:43:56 AM PDT by pissant

Researchers have long realized that our sense of smell contributes greatly to our overall satisfaction or disatisfaction with foods. It has also been established that smells can trigger memories, good or bad, of events long ago.

Here at the Pissant Research Center, we've now compiled the definitive list of smells that improve our moods and make getting out of bed each morning that much easier!

Top 7 Pleasurable Smells

1. Baked Pies:--It does not matter weather its apple, blueberry, or pumpkin. It triggers an instant drool reaction

2. Chocolate Chip Cookies:--Self evident

3. A Good Hoppy Beer:--The combination of the sweet smelling malt and the flowery hops...makes me want to crack one right now!!

4. A Woman's Perspiration:--Not the 3 days without a shower smell, rather the smell of a clean, lightly perfumed woman who is sweating for the best of reasons

5. Gasoline:--There's a reason why many people get brain damage from huffing. Plus it reminds us of sunny days mowing the lawn

6. Fresh Mowed Grass:--Often follows the smell of gasoline and the preceeds the smell of a Good Hoppy Beer

7. Pipe Tobacco:--Everyone had a relative that smoked a pipe, and in light concentrations, the stuff smells good enough to eat.

The different odors in the yard as various flowering plants come into bloom. This one changes throughout the summer.

Do we need to report you?

Yeah, lock him up for being a proud new father. I'm no expert on babies, but I know that a lot of people love the smell of a clean healthy baby. In fact, it seems to be a hardwired human response. Lots of people, when given a baby to hold, will instinctively put their nose to the baby's head.

Thank you, I didn't quite know how to respond to that. Funny thing about baby smell. When my wife hands the baby to me I can tell if someone other than her has been holding her right away. Maybe it is instinctive. I am just wild about her!

A brand new box of crayons. It still reminds me of being a little kid, just starting school.

Yeah, you didn't deserve that response from the other poster. Everyone here knew what you meant.

I think there's got to be some instinct involved. Nature has to find ways of making men, who in their normal state are pretty indifferent to babies (at least this is the case for me and the guys I know), go wild for their own like you are for yours.
