God. I listen to Michael Medved and Dennis Prager because of the open debate...but I can't find an internet forum of the like.

Does anyone have a site that would satisfy me?

I love FR, but debate is not the thing here. Certainly not on DU.

I learn from debate...Not, R or D, but am open minded and would appreciate a link.

You won't find "debate" from right to left on the internet in an unrestricted forum.

You could go to Usenet if that is what you are looking for but you will quickly find flame wars, shouting matches, and character assassination.

Then again, you can get that from liberals on any apolitical forum on the net too.

I actually get sick of Michael Medved's left coast loony guests. If I wanted to hear communist propaganda spouted from those preaching it, I would listen to those speakers when they rant for hours on end on Pacifica Radio.

They offer marginalized ideas. About the only benefit of putting them on the air is to open them to ridicule and refutation. Just what needs to be said to prove a barking moonbat wrong?

Has Michael Medved ever had his position swayed or won over one of his guests?

Isn't there generally a "judging" to determine who "won" a debate?

I think you'll find that forums that don't have any standards for membership end up populated by people who are intolerable to everyone who has any standards at all.

I can't think of any. Most are moderated to some extent otherwise they are overrun by spam, porn and really bad poetry.

Thanks Recovering Ex-hippie. I can understand why you'd want to stay away from threads like that. Some of the regular topic threads are pretty predicable, and as I said in the Chong thread, typically the Drug Warriors appear, based on the quality of their reasoning and argumentation, to have IQ at least 1SD below the Drug War critics on the same threads. Typical Drug War thread:

Drug Warrior: Druggies aren't worth the air they breath. They should be locked up forever. Why should I have support them?

Critic: Actually, people who consume drugs should be recognized as having the same rights as other Americans. Most of them would be happy to support themselves if they weren't imprisoned. In fact it would be much cheaper for you to just let them alone.

Drug Warrior: Drugs are bad for you. The government must take care of people who are too addicted to know what they are doing.

Critic: Actually most illegal drugs are no more harmful than legal substances such as alcohol and tobacco, and commonly used prescription drugs. In fact the most common illegal drugs as normally used are less harmful. Much of the harm of illegal drugs comes because the must be purchased from black market channels.

Drug Warrior: Why should I care about worthless druggies. It would be good to put poisons in drugs. It would serve the druggies right. And you must be one of those drug-using worthless hippie liberal-tarian ACLU NAMBLA members yourself.

Critic: Actually I'm concerned about restoring a free society, and limiting government. This whole drug war started in the 20th Century under liberal Democrats, and is undermining the Constitution.

Yes I listen to Air America. It is laughable. Still, I learn a bit. You've heard of the old saw "keep your enemies closer?"

I got thrown off the Randi Rhodes msg board. Guess I'm toast here. I thought this place was a bit smarter.

And, no...I don't see much debate going on here to all that heralded that fact.

I don't get it. I am increasingly conservative, I like to listen to Medved and Prager BECAUSE they have the guts to debate, unlike Air America. And I get slammed here because I had the temerity to ask if you all knew of a good debate board.
