Schilling looks great today. Control is there and that's really what matters with a pitcher....see Maddox. The Yanks are off base and that really shows in their at bats.

It was a fantastic game, damn it's sweet when they beat the MFYs. Shill looked very, very sharp and the bats were strong (as usual).

If today's Shilling shows up in October, the Sox will repeat.

GO SOX!

We need to grab today's game!

Wake is always iffy vs the Yanks (either great, or rocked early)

And let's hope Randy the Eunit woke up with a backache.

Today's game will be a perfect metaphor for the Yank's season..It is a MUST game for the boys from the Bronx, and they have RJ pitching..he was brought here to win, and he will choke..I would love to have a BP cuff on Steinbrenner hooked up to the net..

from today's Boston Herald (LOL!):

Kapler sorry about base act: Hopes Yanks not offended

NEW YORK - Gabe Kapler issued an apology to the New York Yankees following yesterday's 9-2 victory at Yankee Stadium and said he didn't intend to show up the Red Sox' rivals by racing to an unmanned second base in the ninth inning.

Kapler, who went 2-for-5, was on first base with two outs in the ninth after reaching safely on a fielder's choice grounder. With New York playing back and the Sox leading by seven runs, the veteran outfielder violated baseball's unwritten protocol by taking the base on defensive indifference.

The gesture could easily have been interpreted as a sign the Sox were flaunting their large lead. Kapler said it was simply a brain cramp on his part.

``I pride myself on being professional,'' he said. ``I'm not showing anyone up. It was a poor error in judgment. I just want to make sure they all know that I apologize and fell asleep. It was nothing but me not thinking about the situation of the game.''

I'm a Sox fan but also kinda like the Tribe (I have friends in Ohio, too, and have visited "the Jake" several times in the past few years). Yes, the Sox and Tribe have had their
playoff rumbles in the past--I remember the year the Tribe
beat us, but also the year that the Sox came from 0-2
to sweep the Indians.

Well let me say: GO TRIBE in the wildcard race! (Up by 1 1/2
games now over the Yankees, I believe). If the season ended today I believe it would be White Sox v. Angels and Red Sox
vs. Tribe. Yankees? They'd be on the golf course! So...
go Cleveland and get that wildcard! (or, ANYONE but the Yanks for the wildcard, should the Tribe catch the White Sox in the Central race)!

in the past the Red Sox used to pick up retreads like
Dante Bichette, Ramiro Mendoza, JEREMY Giambi, etc., in a futile attempt to catch the Yankees. This year it's the Yanks who are the chasers, picking up the likes of Alan Embree
and Mark Bellhorn who were cast aside by the Sox.

Did Juicezombi ever apologize for hitting two Roid homers during Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS?Screw em..With a $210 Million payroll, such little league breakdowns are ridiculous!

True...The Bosox picked up heavy-duty lumber, while the Yanks picked up dead wood.

And don't forget Matt Lawton (not hitting half his weight.)

Stiil and all, the Bosox still don't have enough pitching to extend far into the playoffs.

IOW, savor last years lightning-in-a-bottle. Ain't happening again until the year 2104.

Props to the Sox. Straight up, I'll admit they are the only AL playoff team that I think the Indians have virtually NO CHANCE of beating. I'd love to face the Angels or the faltering Chisox.

Even better, let the Chisox continue to slide. Only 6.5 games ahead right now, and the Tribe still has seven more games against the Royals left on the schedule, along with six head-to-head with Chicago.

Tomorrow's series with the Athletics is going to tell me a lot about the Tribe's chances. Right now, though, in all humility I gotta say them boys from Cleveland are playing like a frickin' baseball machine....putting on a freaking baseball school: .704 in August, so far .778 in September; and the squad batted .240 in the first half, but are hitting .280 in the second!

Just Dayum!

Good Lord: Matt Lawton.

He OUGHT to be good, but he just doesn't make it happen. I was thrilled when the Tribe dumped him.

I missed it since I was flying cross country to the peoples republic of California. It is good to hear Schill looked strong. I will have to count on you guys to keep me up to date for the next couple of weeks. Being three hours behind puts a damper on my sports watching routine. It was weird to put on the Tv on at 9am and seeing the Fox NFL pregame show.
