First of all, the lyrics say it all:
"Blue Monday"
written and arranged by Alexis Dean pka Skillbill
copyright 2005
Chorus:
Blue Monday
I cant stand the rain
Its a shame it came
I cant imagine your pain
Blue Monday
Things will never be the same
But some way we got to maintain
Blue Monday
1st verse
A tragedy that we dont understand
lets help our fellow man
you see them reaching out their hands
who saw it coming
"damn"
I never saw it coming
"slam"
but were all Americans
Katrina got my country looking like a foreign land
I heed the call, I see the writing on the wall
I wish I had a million dollars for each and everyone of yall
these people are dying endlessly
and its killing me
we need love thats unconditional
the situations critical
to the people, no more lootin
to the thugs, no more shootin
so much pain from the hurricane that its insane
the obituaries dont need another name
plus what you got to gain from the next mans pain
Republican or Democrat, for real wheres the love at?
thats an epiphany
love is the strategy
were dealing with the agony
America, look around
I know you wont let me down
[Chorus]
2nd verse
Folks doin their very best I applaud
that you got involved
its not a mess, this is life and death
society is scared, it aint about a race card
Lord said love everybody, and God Im trying hard
I want to show the people somebody cares
from the infants to the old ones wit gray hairs
thats my two cents about this predicament
I kick it til I tear a ligament
until the whole world is digging it
you see the people livin it
so, to the media, please, dont call them refugees
just get the cheese to the evacuees
yo, I take the proceeds from project
and proceed to proceed to the people in need
I got a shoulder for the people that grieve
those who scratch them off like fleas
and ignore their pleas
cuts like a knife at my heart
and it makes my soul bleed
yeah it makes my soul bleed
[Chorus]
3rd verse
Yall knew about Mardi Gras and French Quarters
now you know about the fathers, mothers, sons and daughters
this valley of tears wont dry for many years
dont believe me look at TV
watch your stomach get queasy
I donate every last line from this rhyme
and the creativity thats in my mind
just to bring some sunshine
put yourself in a dome and say goodbye to your home
how would you feel? just tell the truth and keep it real
lets not play the blame game and name names
lets just help the people in pain, to try to maintain
my mind still runnin
my mind still runnin
my mind still runnin
you got my heart strings pullin
the tears keep comin
[Chorus]

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
From press release:
WEST PHILADELPHIA HIP-HOP ARTIST "SKILLBILL" (a/k/a "BIRDHEADZ", ALEXIS DEAN) RECORDS "BLUE MONDAY" SINGLE TO BENEFIT VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA
PHILADELPHIA, PA, September 7, 2005 - West Philadelphia hip-hop recording artist Skillbill (a/k/a "Birdheadz", Alexis Dean) has recorded the song "Blue Monday," inspired by Hurricane Katrina, its aftermath and its victims.
The song's tone could be characterized as sober, even mournful. However, the lyrics emphasize the need for a positive outlook, even in the midst of such a tragic situation. The refrain is "Blue Monday/ I can't stand the rain/ It's a shame it came/ I can't imagine your pain/ Blue Monday/ Things'll never be the same/ But some way we gotta maintain."
The song was co-written by, was produced by and features guitar work by DaRulah (a/k/a Whey Cooler of Pretty Poison [Catch Me Im Falling]). The song was recorded at DaStudio Recording Complex in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Skillbill is perhaps best known in the region for various songs related to his ultrafanaticism for the Philadelphia Eagles, e.g. "Letz Go T.O." (featured on the terrellowens.com home page), "Flyin' Wit Da Birdz", "Donnie Mac" and "Wonzup." For quotes and for more biographical information, please see www.birdheadz.com or contact Skillbill directly at olhead@comcast.net .
The song's title makes reference to the day on which Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The additional meaning of the title is a tribute to legendary New Orleans musician Fats Domino, who is sampled in the song; Domino was missing for several days following the hurricane, although he has since been found.
The majority of proceeds from online MP3 and CD sales of the song will go to the new organization Brotherly Love for New Orleans. The organization's "perhaps-arbitrary intention" is for funds to go toward helping residents and former residents of St. Bernard Parish (the home of Eagles safety Quintin Mikell) rebuild their lives and toward assisting victims of the hurricane who relocate permanently to the Philadelphia area. Brotherly Love for New Orleans was founded by, among others: Skillbill, Blank Rome litigation attorney Adam Taxin, former Eagles starting fullback Cecil Martin, Coriendo CEO Peter McGrath, Old Original Bookbinder's president John Taxin, Charming Shops Marketing Director Amy Vogt, onecrazyfan.com founder Michael Young and former Eagles linebacker and KYW/WIP personality Garry Cobb. For more on the organization, please go to www.givebrotherlylove.org . (The song is expected to become available for purchase at the website by the end of this week.)
A preview version of the song is available at the onecrazyfan.com homepage. The full version of the MP3 is available upon request by members of the media, as are the song's lyrics.

Uh, hello? I bought cheap gas on Saturday morning, because I saw it coming, and I live 2,500 miles away. What a maroon.
You can't honestly believe this warranted breaking news, can you?
That kind of message in a rap song in this Kanye era? Maybe we can agree to disagree ... (but perhaps you have a point)
I type in www.birdbrain.com and got to his website.
type = typed
After hearing lyrics to most rap songs, it is refreshing to see that someone can make a record without talking about killing cops and slapping their....er....female dogs. I also don't see too many other rap artists out there helping. Thanks for posting.
He has not hit the big-time yet, although he is quite popular among hardcore Philadelphia Eagles fans.
see www.birdheadz.com or (choose high-speed introduction) www.terrellowens.com
Feel free to call your local stations and ask them why not yet playing it ?!?!
Song for relief
Phillies pitcher Brett Myers has lent guitar work to a song written to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief.
It's called "Blue Monday" and it's written by Skillbill (Alexis Dean) and DaRulah (Whey Cooler), the two guys who front the Birdheadz, the Eagles appreciation band that got media play during the Super Bowl run.
Proceeds from the song's sale will go to a new group, Brotherly Love for New Orleans, whose backers include Blank Rome lawyer Adam Taxin and former Eagle Cecil Martin. To hear a clip of the song, go to www.givebrotherlylove.org. The song is $4.99 for an MP3 version, $7.99 for CD, through the Web site.
