The Wrong Katrina Questions
You know what Daily Cardinal? I am sick and tired of the medias partisan coverage of the Hurricane Katrina aftermath.
Nobody is realizing the most essential fact of the matter: Bush did it! Now, I know this kind of blame assignment is rare, so please bear with me for just a minute.
Ive been watching the major media as they try to determine why the response to Katrina has been so slow. But they are not asking the single most important question: what did Bush know, and when did he know it?!
The media is, if you only look at the facts, completely off-focus. Right now they are completely focused on silly, irrelevant questions such as:
1. Why did Louisiana react so poorly to the aftermath, while similarly poor states such as Mississippi and Alabama barely is worth any news coverage? (Analysis of per capita household income, http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/)
2. why were hundreds of unused school and commercial buses not used to evacuate those who might not be able to afford evacuation before the storm hit? (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1477173/posts)
3. why were the interstate lanes into New Orleans not re-classified as outbound lanes for the evacuation? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1478997/posts
4. Why did Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco not implement Bushs order to evacuate New Orleans? (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/28/national/29katrinacnd.html?ex=1126238400&en=c96cd897240d4807&ei=5070)
No! Those questions are so irrelevant.
The real questions the media should be asking are the following:
1. How is Halliburton benefiting from this catastrophe? It is a well-known fact among most scholars that Halliburton is either in almost-full or even complete control of Mr. Bushs administration.
2. Could the administration, under the direction of political mastermind Karl Rove, have let the hurricane build up to category 5 strength? Come on now. Are we really supposed to believe that the United States does not have the means to stop a hurricane? Mr. Bush, why did you let this one slide by?
3. Or, could the Bush administration have purposely usurped the valiant and efficient efforts of Lousiana governor Blanco and New Orleans mayor Nagin for distraction purposes: to cause so much media coverage of the aftermath, that nobody notices how Israel is running rampant across the entire Middle East!
Ahem
Anyways, the time to question is now. The most recent Gallup Poll shows that only 13% of Americans believe Mr. Bush is most responsible for the problems in New Orleans after the hurricane (http://www.gallup.com/poll/content/?ci=18412)
So I say to the media: stop being the typical shill for this administration. Stop vigorously challenging the responses of Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco. Their slow and ineffective leadership is clearly, as experts have shown, Bushs fault. In fact, we could even interpret the medias inappropriately critical examination of the Mayors and Governors ineffectiveness as racism and anti-woman-ism, respectively.
Instead our media should be focusing on the most important question: What did Bush know, and when did he know it?!
Oh, and by the way, this was a satire.
Jonathan Highness Junior: Biochemistry and Genetics
Any sentient being can tell they were torturing those poor black people merely for political gain in attacking Bush.
I'd be ashamed to be a democrat.
well written satire has humour mixed with factual insights, and this is really well written satire. Great tagline on the end!
Did Bush purposely open the levies to drown NO?
At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.
Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, medicine, and shelter. We need help taking care of their pets, too.
If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you. Believe me, there are a lot of organizations who need your help.
Right now the site mostly covers Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas but I'm adding more every night. My wife was down at Reunion Arena in Dallas Tuesday handing out care packages and spiritually ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer. She says that the situation is tragic and that there's a lot of work to be done. There are so many children who don't know where their parents are or even if their parents are still alive.
There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would appreciate it if you would get the word out.
Many thanks,
Michael McCullough
