We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Four people have died as a result of norovirus, an easily spread cause of diarheea and vomiting, caused by infection associated with contact with the contaminated flood waters of New Orleans.
The EPA is testing what, exactly, is in the flood waters, and preliminary results will be available by weeks end.
It is known now, however, that e. coli is present in the water at 450,000 times safe levels.
NOPD officials say there are about 10,000 residents remaining in New Orleans, and those will be removed by force, if necessary.
A makeshift jail has been made at the New Orleans bus station--the first inmate was an individual who drove up to get a bus ticket out of town in a car he had stolen.
Eko-wackos are on their ever vigilant nannyism--scientists are warning about the long-term damage to the ecosystem by pumping New Orleans flood waters back into Lake Ponchatrain (like, where do they want it pumped?)
And the pumping? Three pumping stations are online, of the city's 148 pumps, and each is moving 4,600 cubic feet per second. This is somewhat better than a portable pump the Army Corps of Engineers had been using, which moved 9 cubic feet per second.
Flood waters should be removed in 3 1/2 weeks from eastern New Orleans, and in 2 1/2 months from Chalmette.
The good news is that 182,000 people have been rescued.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Sweet you, NO, I don't need anything... well a cleaning crew maybe, but (slapping my head) I'm supposed to be cleaning and not sitting here...lol.
I am AMAZED at the amount of dirt (fine silt?) that blew into the house! My house was spotless prior to Katrina. Now that dust/dirt/silt is everywhere, and it's mixing with the dog's shedding hair. Pugs SHED.
Does Toby's last name have a "S" on the end or not?
I sure shall. I know we talked about the area once again being "boom town" but I also know his s-i-l's anxiety. They're all such GOOD, honest, hard working and proud people. I just ache that they're having to go thru this.
No. No "s"

Since the media's bible is polling, perhaps this poll will give them a clue that they are WRONG in blaming our President for ....everything.
I emailed Toby yesterday using his d's email addy which he provided in his post to us.
#1 Son's BIL owns an Environmental Clean Up business. He is headed to MS at the request of FEMA. He will be looking for employees, but he has no idea WHERE he will be sent by FEMA once he arrives in MS. I gave Toby that information. If the BIL is too far away it probably won't do much good giving them the info.
According to what I've been able to establish, FEMA is in charge of all temporary gov't employment, so the best thing to do is to register with FEMA and express a desire to work. ANY and ALL skills should be embellished on the registration form. :>)
I tried to call Toby again this morning and got the rapid busy signal. I wish I understood what the rest of you are doing to be able to get thru. I'm getting paronoid.
I've got a couple of meetings today and a dinner meeting tonite. I'll peek in here as I can, hoping to catch another post from Toby.
Thanks. Getting a box off to him today. Does anyone have any ideas about what to send him?
I heard that it is very strongly disputed that the Superdome will have to be razed despite rumors to the contrary.
We'll just have to wait and see about this one, I think.
Thank you so very much for posting this Sunday Before Katrina NWS Weather Warning.
It is so weird that the governor of LA and mayor of N.O. didn't react as if this was a powerful emergency.
As Rush pointed out yesterday, it doesn't seem they had anybody on their respective staffs who was very familiar with the N.O. evacuation plan.
That's because, other than a voluntary evacuation plan, and contraflow procedures for Highways 10, 12, 55, and 59, there isn't one.
No kidding here. There really wasn't.

...hmmm.......you & I have very different ideas of what constitutes "mid-morning.";^)
Amazing, isn't it that that no-plan "Plan" cost $500.000?

(((( Bless you! ))))
I haven't been able to get thru for 2 days, so I was totally RELIEVED to receive Toby's call this morning.
Only 13%?!?!?!!!!
Whoa, that's one HUGE indictment on MSM perceived credibility.
It was amazing.. when ever we tried to draw conclusions.. that is tell people what to think, the listeners defended those we were attacking and attacked those we were defending. In other words attacks that drew conclusions were counter productive.
What proved to be effective was presenting facts and describing situations with out drawing conclusions. The facts we chose to report and the situations we chose to describ tended to have a great effect on public opinion. We could get away with an unbalanced coverage of facts and situations. But we could not draw conclusions and change minds. It did not work.
When a media type tries to directly tell us what to think, a great many of us reject the attempt. I think there is a natural tendency for people to react in a sort of "No one tells me what to think." manner.
The media when it is after someone tends to directly attack.. and in most cases their attacks fail. It is as if they believe every accusatory word they say, and can't imagine anyone being in disagreement with them. They always seem to be so surprised that the public does not go where they want them to go.
They're fixing to take one thang off the generator and put his computer on!
