 STUNNING Hammasa Kohistani hit back at critics after becoming the first Muslim to be crowned Miss England.

The Uzbekistan-born beauty overcame a storm of controversy to win the title.

Islamic leaders argued her participation was “unlawful”.

Some said all four Muslim entrants — including Iraq-born Sarah Mendly, 23, — should withdraw as it was against the teachings of the Koran to show flesh.

Student Hammasa, 18, wore a sarong over her white bikini as she beat 40 other girls on Saturday.

She said: “I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong. I have the utmost respects for the strong beliefs of the religious leaders and they have the right to express opinions. I hope they will respect my decisions too.

Hammasa of Uxbridge, Middlesex, vowed to win Miss World in December.

Yes--- the place is full of beauties from all over the world --- every ethnic group --- stunningly beautiful and due to our prefect weather, with the MINIMUM or less of clothing...

These young women are proud of how they look, and more than comfortable in giving you a pretty good look!

Our local family owned grocer, must have required a "uniform" for the young ladies shopping there -- it seems that short shorts, halter top and high heels are UOD.

NOTHING beats a slow walking lady in shorts and heels, to follow....

You're right of course, and you (unlike the System Administrator who re-categorized this thread from "News" to "Chat" without explanation)understand the ramifications of this extremely NEWSWORTHY event. This is VERY significant to geopolitics and represents a monumental political as well as cultural and social statement and shift.
It's a shame that many FReepers will be unable to easily see this important NEWS item because it has been recategorized by someone who may not have even bothered to read the article or consider it's significance.
