Do you spend this time of year staring at NFL offensive statistics and downloading injury reports? Do you pay exhorbitant fees to sports "experts" to get the inside scoop on the "upset of the week"? Well, come put your efforts and dollars to good use and join the FREEPS Yahoo Pro Football Pick'em contest. It doesn't cost anything, except the time to register to Yahoo.com. After you join, then just sit back and watch in amazement as the team you bet 16 points on fumbles the ball into the endzone and rolls out of bounds as time runs out on their 'come-from-behind' drive. Cheer the Colts on as Peyton Manning threads the defense for 48 points only to see Cato June and the boys give up 56. Pledge your big picks to the Vikings and stand slack-jawed as they meltdown during the second half of the season.

The NFL season starts next Thursday, September 8th at 9:00 pm (ET) with Oakland at New England. Yahoo Pick'em Football is open for Free Republicans of all ages. To join, you must have a Yahoo account. That's easy enough, just go to Yahoo and sign up for an account. To join the group, please note the following: Go to Yahoo Pro Football Pick'em... here is a link Pro Football Pick'em ... click on Join or Create Group" ... click on Join Existing Group... click on Join a Private Group... it will ask for GROUP ID# which 29746 .... then PASSWORD is " jimrob " then click on CONTINUE ... it will take you to PICK SET ... this is where you come up with your team's clever name, usually politically inspired, or you can just close your eyes and type randomly (Please, no naughty names, junior freepers want to play, too!). This will be the name you'll be known by in the rankings... to make your picks, go to MY PICKS, find the week # or date then click on PICKS (edit) over to the right....here is where you'll pick the teams you want to win... please select CONFIDENCE points for each game... this is how you win points...

We don't do the spread option; we do have a tiebreaker; and we do not drop the lowest scores... deadline for entering your picks is 5 minutes before any particular gametime

This week's games start on Thursday, but if you fail to sign up by then you can still enroll before Sunday's games and only lose the opportunity for the Pats-Raiders game. There are 24 spots available, so plenty of time to decide if you are a REAL Texan and can pick the Cowboys over the Steelers, or if you are anti-PC enough to pick the Raiders over the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
