I would never suggest doing that. Forensics now-a-days is quite advanced that they can figure out what you’ve done.

Your first statements to the police, even without Miranda can be used against you.
Thus: "Officer, when he said what he was going to do to me and lunged at me, I was so scared, I just pulled the trigger a couple of times ...it was him or me"

When the cop tries to ask you question at that point (and if he is any good he will) Responded with something to the effect of "Your kinfolk who is a lawyer owes you a bunch of money and you're going to call him", don't answer any questions.
