Mossberg 590. Straight from the factory with the ghost rings and a 6 round tube for under $350.00

I prefer the placement of the safety on the Mossberg over the Remington, but that's strictly a personal preference.

PVS-4 . . . what memories! We built thousands of them at Varo in Garland, TX. Actually most of my work was with the earlier first gen PVS-2, I think it was. One time there was a huge manhunt going on out west of Ft Worth and a Texas Ranger came by the plant and asked if we could put one on his AR15. I grabbed one up off the line, boresighted it roughly in the hall, and sent him on his way.

The bad guys surrendered about midnight that night. A couple of days later the Ranger brought the scope back. I asked him if it did him any good. He said not directly, but he thought he had saved the lives of a few head of livestock, because every time a lawman heard a sound in the bushes, they came to him to check it out. The scopes were big novelties to civilians back then.
