I had a light hearted topic picked out for today - but am just not in the mood.
Everyone please have safe holiday weekend, and keep our fellow oAmericans of the Gulf Coast in all of your thoughts and prayers.
So far, looks like our LD weekend will be quiet. My daughter is working weekends at the Bristol County Renaissance Fair, so will be gone. My responsibilities at church don't start until next Sunday, and we haven't heard whether or not our son and his family plan to spend any time at our place this weekend. The weekend of the 18th is a whole nother matter-I'm booked from 9-9 that day, without even considering the Fonda counter-protest.
Hope you all have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!
Me breaking my ankle totaly destroyed our entire summer - the new roof didn't get put on, though much of that had to do with the heat. We didn't put siding on the house, the barn didn't get cleaned out, my roadside produce stand never came about because I couldn't work in the garden.
Do I sound like I am still annoyed with myself for being such a klutz? you bet I am :)
I'm so sorry about your cat, we see that event coming for our old dog in the not too distant future, she's 13.
The other thing we are doing this weekend is acquiring 3 barn/outside kittens...there are far too many new litters of kittens amongst the cats that live behind the Moose Lodge. The gal that runs the kitchen and the other that runs the office took pity upon Jax because of asll the time she has spent there this summer while I've been there attending meetings and doing the book work, and told her she had first pick of all the kittens. I was a softy and said yes to her when she said she wanted 2 - and that's how I wind up with 3 because the 2 she picked were from the same litter and the gals said since there were nly 3 in the litter I had to take them all if I was taking 2 :)
A very happy birthday to Robbie!
Hope your ankle is all healed up now! I had reactions to meds that messed up a couple of months for me, but August was really good!
Good luck with the kittens! Make sure you have them spayed/neutered as soon as they're old enough, or you'll have hundreds!
Thanks!
Daddy made me put her in.
She likes it.
My older one will be doing Gym at the school on Thursday.
I can't wait for the diseases to be carried home.
Sounds like you need the quiet weekend!!!!
Have fun!
Well, at least she likes it. Good luck with the year. My sympathies regarding the germs. We've been very lucky with our health for several years, in spite of the Scouts, Sunday School, library, etc.
My 5-year-old just started gymnastics this week (her 3rd year), and my oldest boy is running track at a local Christian school. He can't compete with them, but he runs 5K's with my husband.
Sorry to hear about your meds messing you up.
The ankle is coming along, thank you. It's been 9 weeks since I broke it, 8 since the surgery and only 2 since the cast came off. I can actually wear a shoe again (sneaker) but I'm still on crutches, and will be for at a least a few more weeks.
>>You mean little Netmil?<<
Just Mil!
Net is going to gym.
It's really busting the homeschooling. So far (I know it's only two days) it has not been going well. I can't get them to do any regular lessons, because we normally do them from 12 to 3.
I have to find a way to make this work or we will lose a year.
Both girls are only 1 1/2 ahead. I'm taking the weekend off then we must get it together.
It breaks my heart to see the little one saying the Alphabet everyday, learning sight words and naming colors when she is doing second grade work at home.
I'm proud to say I am on the ball about the spaying/neutering. The mother of the young men who live across the road from me, runs what amounts to a stray cat spay/neuter program on Chincoteague Island and has already told me to just bring them to her and she will have their vet take care of it for me.
That's a bummer of a summer! I'll have to share your tagline with my daughter - she does the sewing in our family. (I prefer to knit - very few have ever been injured by falling yarn!)
That's what my 3-year-old does. Also counts in English and Spanish, and recites entire videos, word for word. (Sigh ... if only he would use the toilet!) You'll just have to be strong.
Good show ... too many homeless animals out there. Our neighbors tried to give us kittens as soon as Agnes passed on, but I'm looking forward to a clean garage for a few years!
I'm not being a doom and gloomer, but do yourself, and the kids, a large favor and see if you can find a product called X-PEL, which is a shampoo/conditioner that kills and REPELS lice. It is non-toxic and can be used as a regular shampoo. If you can't find that the other non-toxic lice shampoo I have used is called Licefree.
As weird as it sounds, it is the cleanest kids and those with dry hair/scalp that attract the lice. Naturally oily hair is not a living environment lice like - as much as we battled the lice this past spring, hubby never once had them
Thanks for the suggestion!
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say, I have done no sewing this summer :) but I'm going to have to break down and pull the machine out again - I'm tired of looking at the curtain fabric that is still in the same place I put it 2 days before I fell ..... LOL!
The homeless animals is why this woman started this program. Chincoteague has a year round population of about 4,500 - but over 10,000 in summer. Stray cats are fed all over the Island and they reproduce.....last I checked this one program alone had spayed/neutered over 700 cats, just on donatins collected in cans in stores all over the island - and the discounted services of the vet.
A great service to the community.
