Don't miss the last stage.

Catastrophic hurricanes usually happen in (roughly) these stages:

Stage One: we see the storm coming on TV - most locals prepare/evac while some twiddle.

Stage Two: landfall - most decent distant folks immediately start the praying and check-writing while some limit their participation to hours of watching a reporter standing like a bold, italic letter I shouting the obvious against the wind.

Stage Three: rescue, clean-up and repair - most who can help do so while some who could help instead take evil's advantage to help themselves to their neighbors' property.

Stage Four: analysis - most honest folks look for answers in preparation for next time while some seek political advantage born of lies and nursed by despair.

That last stage will be the most enduring, starting before and lasting long after the bodies are buried and the cities are rebuilt. And once the blaming (a favored political method of analysis) starts then fingers will point left, right and even up to the Father. Some will point in all three directions at once, but unless you have graduated from Gangsta Gesturing 101 then I suggest you use more than one hand for that.

At each stage there are some people helping and some people either not helping or actually hindering the process. And different people help with different stages of the struggle. Those who can't be there physically can nonetheless feel instrumental by sending prayers, supplies and money to help in the first three stages. And logical analysis can be contibuted by anyone to the last stage which is the most important one in preventing a Hollywood-level bad sequel.

One big problem is that many on the right are afraid to participate fully in the last stage while many liberals concentrate their often disingenuous efforts on steering that stage down a dirt road. I saw an example of that earlier on this site. An alert fellow posted some information about how President Clinton might have put the kibosh on an Army Corp of Engineers draft request seeking to shore up hurricane defenses in the Gulf region during the late 90's. It was a good point and one made in a seemingly friendly environment. Yet one of the first comments was from another right-wing fellow who did not disagree with the point but started his comment with Shut. The. Hell. Up. using the liberal tactic of trying to shout down or shame away any critical thinking or truth seeking.

The second fellow was offended that someone on the right was playing defense in the already started blame game where liberal politicians and the MSM have been blaming Bush for purposely causing the current disaster by creating global warming and then hiding the National Guard in the middle east so they can't help, not to mention that Bush failed to use his presidential powers to lift New Orleans up another 20 feet before the storm came.

Maybe some on the right think that we should be doing nothing except writing checks until the cleanup is done. But there are folks out here who are skilled enough at multi-tasking that they can pray to the Almighty Father (for forgiveness first, then relief), write a contribution check and defend against the verbal assault on our sanity all in one day.

We have already heard that it might take weeks or months to clean up the mess, including the bodies. And you know that liberals push their train of lies most smoothly when the tracks are greased with emotion (see Cindy SheSham). If we allow the video presentation of this current tragedy to be narrated only by false-witnessing liberals for the duration of the clean-up, then we will be guilty of allowing another, political 'natural' disaster to play out.

I have no desire to blame Clinton for the storm. He is a horrible liar, a sexual predator and was a lousy president, but I am certain he did not wish to see this calamity to occur any more than Bush did. But just imagine for a moment if we sit back and let the lying left steer this last stage in the direction they desire: Bush is blamed for the mess and impeached (unlikely I know, but what they want) or neutered, troops are pulled out of Iraq prematurely and we sign the ridiculous Kyoto treaty. Tearing down Bush while building up libs will cause future political suffering. Signing Kyoto or otherwise buckling to envirokooks will cause major economic suffering. And giving up on freedom in the middle east will cause humiliation and suffering at home (emboldening terrorists) and quite predictable human suffering to those we've already sacrificed many lives to help.

As I said before, different people help in different ways. If the emotional, potty-mouthed guy does not want to help in the last stage that's fine, but please don't try to stop those that are helping. And if he just wants to pick a fight, I suggest going down and pounding on some of the creeps who are looting. We all want the best for the battered regions and do what we can to assist in the early stages. But for those that are able, don't neglect that last stage. If it helps, think of the strong, destructive winds emanating from liberal mouths as recurring after-shocks that need to be dealt with as swiftly and surely as we attempt to deal with nature's initial blast.

Don't miss the last stage.

Yup, sounds like the MSM alright...

Hope I wasn't too long-winded.

It was mostly ranting and opinion.

I was on the thread that referred to the report from the 90's where the impeached one {shudder} denied the money/project.

Your observations are astute, albeit misleading.

One big problem is that many on the right are afraid to participate fully in the last stage while many liberals concentrate their often disingenuous efforts on steering that stage down a dirt road.

I am curious as to what your intentions are with this post. A couple things jumped out as a tad disingenuous to me.

1) You referred to x42 by prefacing his name with the title President. At the same time you repeatedly referred to our current leader and PRESIDENT as a piece of vegetation. Not once did you refer to him as PRESIDENT BUSH.

2) You stated clearly you had no desire to blame x42. Then went into a cloudy scenario where PRESIDENT Bush could be blamed and impeached for this natural disaster, while working in all the lib talking points.

Pretty good for a newbie. Makes me go hmmmmmmm.

Well written, and no spelling or grammatical errors that I could see, unlike many of the orangutans that post on this site.

Hi Justa,

I am not sure what you are suggesting. But you can rest assured that I am no liberal! I am a Bible-thumping, gun-toting, programming nerd (why else would I be up at 3:00am), Army vet, family man, conservative from rural Wisconsin who still has an anti-Gore bumper sticker on my old pickup truck.

I despise both Clintons personally and detest liberal thinking in every form. Specifying 'President' Clinton was only a way to distinguish that dirtbag from his old bag.

Believe me, I meant no disrespect to GeorgeW. He's the best we've had since the Gipper - based mostly on the fact that he is an honest Christian who respects innocent life. He, of course, has political faults including his propensity to spend like a drunken Democrat and his failure to protect the borders. But with me, the Christian thing comes first. So don't get me started on abortion - all I will say is that one cannot honestly be Christian and pro-choice.

If that is not good enough, let me finish by stating:

I understand that abortion is murder, homosexuality is sin, the current tax rates are immoral, monkeys are cute but not my relatives and that Islam is not a peaceful religion.

I own more guns than the Iraqi army and use them to kill Bambi the deer, Tom the turkey and any other cute, clean (Biblically) critter that crosses my property in season.

I am so far to the right that I can only faintly hear Rush Limbaugh in my left ear.

I would have thought that my 'path to enlightenment' which I mentioned would have given you a clue to whose side I am on:

Four right turns, then go straight until you see the light!

"Bump" is short for "bump to the top" and is sometimes abbreviated as "bttt". If you think a thread is an interesting, entertaining, or informative thread you can "bump it to the top" of Free Republic's Latest Posts page so that more people may see it. The "Latest Posts" page is the page that a lot of members set as their preference. You should take "BUMP" as a compliment.

Freegards,

Good morning Buddha.
If I misjudge you I apologize. As you stated, it was after 3 AM (edt) and I had been reading nothing but trash for hours referring to the President. No one can ever agree with another 100% of the time, however, the bashing of this President is beyond any reasonable criticism.

I am so very sick and tired of the "Bush's Fault" mantra. When world leaders, every demonRAT "leader" that can find a microphone and every ignorant moron on the street, claim that PRESIDENT Bush caused this natural disaster as well as every other horrific thing that has happened, will happen or might happen before the end of the world, it "begins" to wear on my nerves.

Had the PRESIDENT stood on the Gulf coast with arms raised and said, "Peace, be still, in the name of Jesus" and caused the hurricane to disappear, do you think it would shut any one up? Of course not.

That days headline would read:
BUSH THINKS HE IS GOD!

Again, my apologies. Next time I will shut down and go to bed.

Hi Justanobody,

No apology necessary.

That was my first attempt at creating a thread here. I will be more clear about my feelings toward Slick Willy if I mention him in the future.

I would disagree with you on one matter though. If President Bush stood on the sea shore and successfully appealed to God for relief from the storm, the secular humanists in the press would accuse him (and Halliburton) of a plot to control Mother Nature in an effort to save the oil wells in the gulf.

And if he invoked the name of Jesus, then CAIR would call for yet another jihad.

And the conspiracy kooks who believe Dan Brown's (my name too, unfortunately) Da Vinci books would start putting the pieces together to realize that it wasn't just any bush that Moses heard from on the mount, it was future President George 'Burning' Bush!

Good luck to ya.
