Thanks that got it... and then I run firefox.exe -p to change the profile back to default?
And why is firefox crashing so much recently... like three times day every day for the past week or so... it's usually really stable...

What version are you running? 1.0.6 is most recent. Mine has been fine here and at work....

Usually when FF crashes like that, it's a theme or extension causing the problems. It's a bit of work, but the best thing to do is uninstall all themes you've added, and all extensions you've added. Then add them back in, one by one, until you figure out which one's the problem.

You had the same problem with IE. Dude, maybe your machine is seriously hosed with spyware that isn't being detected by normal scans. Have you tried reinstalling Windows from your system disk?
