I once read a book by a MIG Pilot from Russia who defected by flying a MIG plane to Japan - it was in the late 70's. The book was called, "MIG PILOT." When he came here to America, and saw the wealth and opportunity, he couldn't believe that anyone could NOT be working. He said it was inexcusable. I agree.

I know the book and the pilot. He has mentioned that our grocery stores that he had seen pictures of in the USSR were described by the Politburo as propaganda. No one wanted to believe that we had so much on our shelves compared to how little were on theirs.

"Mig Pilot" is a great book. Pilot was named Victor Belenko (if I have the spelling correct).
Recommended reading when you want to feel good about America.

I read that book too. I was young and it was a definite eye opener on socialism.

The pilot's name is Viktor Belenko. Like many immigrants, he became one of the country's best promoters of our nation's virtues and opportunities.
