SirKit was saying that they need to think about serious hurricane proofing of homes. It can be done, it would just take some extra thought, but only a little extra money. We're planning some series wall ties for our new addition because we're up on top of a hill and get some stiff winds when storms come through. We've had some gust upwards to 50mph during some Nor'easters!
If we ever bought on the water like that, we'd be thinking of building a concrete home, even to the roof! A guy in Perdido Key had a round home he'd built to some serious hurricane standards, and it was still standing without damage after Ivan. Now THAT was hurricane proof!
