You know, I'm not sure I've ever seen 2010.

I think that's the one where they decided it wasn't HAL's fault. User error or something.

I'm a fan of a lot of somewhat arty films...but that one is just meaningless. And boring. IMO.

I've always watched it just for the spacecraft. I even have the restored version on DVD.

When it came out in 1968, 2001 was state-of-the-art not just in special effects, but in a best-effort projection of what real spacecraft would be like.

I think the book and the movie did not take the dead hand of the federal government into account in space exploration and travel. And who'da thunk that the closest thing to a real spacecraft (the shuttle) would have a cockpit that looked like the glass cockpit of a modern commercial airliner?

That looks like it's headed right for them. Is Corin a hurricane magnet?

Maybe it's painted on the roof, and he can't see it.

Heh...or there's something under the house. It'd explain the bad luck.

The crack squirrels painted a pentagram in Corin's basement?

That'd make an interesting NaNo plot...

They invoke the Rite of BurntOast and summons The Toaster into their pentagram... unfortunately they smudged a line and it gets free...

The "Lensman" series and "Demolished Man" are classics, highly recommended. If you can find "The Stars My Destination" by Bester, I can recommend that one too.

So, you're a gamer now, huh? ;)

I've read "Stars My Destination" and I look for it in used bookstores.

I've always wanted to be a gamer, I just haven't had a chance. This system is very fun and the other playesr are way into things, we got into character pretty fast.

Guess that's what they get for being traditionalists.
