The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

;o) We LOVE Wallace and Gromit at our house. Can't wait for the new movie!

Cut the rest of the basil bush this afternoon. The whole house smells of basil....

Think I'll go make some tomato sauce.

Mmmmm.... basil. One of my most favorite scents from the garden. Yummy!

I'm home! Was a long trip but a good one! I'm tanned and tuckered.

I put a couple of sprigs in water. Hopefully they'll root and I can have fresh basil this winter.

'Course if all else fails, I can always plant some seeds.

Hello everyone.

My mom's right arm is in a sling. She has a hairline fracture on her elbow.

She tripped over an extension cord in the backyard trying to bring something to the fence guys who finally showed up to fix the Katrina damage.

Apparently she was trying to avoid landing on her back and decided her elbow would be better. ~sigh~

I'm just so ~over~ these past 2 months. What a drag they've been. :P

What a drag... Did she watch a TV show on broken bones or something? ;-)

Hang in there... :-)

Baseball... dang... I almost completely missed the season this year for some reason.

The Cubs weren't in it. :)

I think they need to throw a big goat barbecue at Wrigley Field.

Leave it to you to make me laugh in the midst of all this. *smile*

And no. No TV shows.

Just plain, dumb luck.

Although, it does prove she can move faster than the shuffling walk she has assumed since hurting her back. There is no way she tripped over that cord at a trudge.

She was walking fast when it happened.

Which is very interesting. :-D

Heh... funny you should mention it. I was just explaining yesterday to one of the junior staff that I don't use a magic 8-ball for decisions anymore. Not since I learned how to read fresh goat's entrails.

He almost bought it there for a second... :-)

Hmm... walking fast...

You know... a webcam would be fun. Just for sporting purposes, of course. ;-)

I sure wish I had set one up before. But it wouldn't make a difference. :P

Just checked the fridge. Outta milk. Hate that.

I have to wait until Alyson falls asleep first. I don't want to have to cart her along to the ATM and then to the store.
