Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Movie didn't have any badgers or llamas in it. Sean Bean looked nice, though.

hehhehe... sorry. :-)
Funny... I've only seen ONE person from my company come out here tonight. He was lost. They must have been off in some other part of the complex. Cool.

It just didn't need to happen. Well sort of. But they would have had to rewrite the next season...
I would rather have seen ______ kill ______.

Had the wierdest thing happen today... Was at the liquor store to pick up some adult beverages. Handed the clerk my bank card and drivers licence. He says "Sorry, we can't accept this card because it's not signed." (Instead of signing my cards, I write "SEE ID").
So I say "If you need a signature to compare, it's on my ID."
But he insists and hands me a slip of paper that says Visa requires all cards to be signed. So I say "Sorry, none of my cards are signed. Guess I ain't buying anything here."
I've been doing that on my credit and bank cards for a half-dozen years, and this is the first time I have had any problem like this.
Why the hell does a signature on the back of a card make it more secure than checking a photo ID?

It doesn't make it more secure. It is a rule from Visa, rarely enforced. I've had mine questioned too, but almost every time a photo ID is enough. My card also says "Request Photo ID" instead of a signature.
The signature protects Visa and the store, not you. All they have to prove is that the signature on file matches the signature on the back of the card. That the signature on the back of the card provides a sample for a forger to copy is not important to them.
If you really want to annoy them... tell them that "SEE ID" is your signature. Sign the slip "SEE ID". :-)

Why the hell does a signature on the back of a card make it more secure than checking a photo ID? I'm guessing it's protection for the company. If the signatures on a charge match the card...
I dunno. We got burned with credit card fraud when we lived in Arlington. This was before Jr. was born.
Someone got our AMEX number and charged almost $800 at FAO Schwarz by phone. AMEX was great though. I was in Arizona and tried to use the card. We didn't have to pay anything. AMEX took care of it all and sent us a new card.
Then, since it was right before Christmas, I got an instant card at "The Limited." It was when wife's youngest sister and neices we're in their early teens. I charged $27.00 that day.
We never got the card, but I got a bill for $300.00. It was obvious (to us anyway) that someone had picked the card out of the mail and used it. The "signature" was printed and it used my nickname, not my full name.
I had to fill out a 10 page affidavit and have it notorized before they would admit the charges weren't ours.

Right behind ya, Corin.
Having slight difficulties with my wireless internet tonight. Had to reboot to get back in here. ~sigh~
It's almost midnight, so I'm gonna get some sleep.
Right after I find a spot in the bed for me. Both girls are already asleep in it and I don't want to end up receiving a kick from Aly's cast in the middle of the night. Yikes.
Couch is looking good.
Nighty night everyone! See you tomorrow.
Oh, and Ramius...take more pictures! < /Hair > *grin*
