Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I didn't realize it had already posted. When I hit post the first time, it was hanging up some, and I minimized it and went on to something else waiting for it to post. When I came back later, I saw that the Posting Comment was still showing, so I hit Post again.
Vey strange.

Well... it was limited production, and its all gone. :-)
It was the only home brew batch I did that was ever really good. I've done some others after that, but they didn't ever really measure up.
It would be good and useful thing to try again... one of these weekends....

Heh...the only Ethan I've known well was a very tall, very nice, but rather boring guy I worked with at my last job. Monroe could work...though again, I've known people with that name.
What about one of those snooty kinda names that are last-names-used-as-first-names?

I'm too much into description...so yeah. I usually totally have them imagined. Sometimes they connect with real people...sometimes not. Really depends, I guess.
I'm afraid my cool guy characters tend to have rather similar mental images, though. I should work on mental originality, I suppose...

Someone suggested Langston Monroe ... but breathing "Oh, Langston!" just doesn't sound real passionate, you know?
"Lang" is lame; she'd have to call him "L.T." or something. I've decided to name Ethan's father Langston; it suits.
"Oh, Ethan!" sounds a bit better, do you think?
"Veronica" is going to turn into "Vonnie," I suspect; I'm not real crazy about "Ronnie." I have a friend whose name is Veronica, and her family's pet name for her is "Vero." I'll have to think about that.

Heh...my co-worker's Mom called him "Ethie" once in the presence of another co-worker (they did stuff together on weekends, and all his family live around). He's not lived that down to this day, I don't think.
My characters generally have rather boring, common names. Maybe this time I'll do something like go through the phone book looking for outlandish names...

I usually go through various magazines for my romance novel characters. But this time, I'm modeling them on actors and actresses; I don't have time to mess around with looks.

Well, here's how I described him for one of my writing lists (I asked them for help with his name):
He's six-foot-two, lean (one might say rangy), muscled, smooth caramel complexion, killer dimples, shaved head.
