Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Oh and the plan is still to destroy the world. Then you'll need a Toaster and a few aloe plants. :)

Plot? What's that? Thus spake the Hollywood movie producers and writers....
I'm off to a silly mtg. It is very silly, but it resuces me from writing my accomplishements. Hurray!
To: Overtaxed
Dunno but I just got part of one. If I use this character that way, and change the chronology, then all I need are the bad guys. And the details.

I'm back from my silly meeting. Management stood us up. Again.
*sigh* back to writing.

And the details. That's where you'll find yer bad guys. Devil's in the details ya know.
To: Lil'freeper
whoohoo, that was a palindrome!
To: Lil'freeper; Overtaxed; JenB
whoohoo, that was a palindrome! Hmmm...
How 'bout a large contingent of aloe plant refugees held hostage in a palindrome by an evil toaster storm???

Are there ninja? Because I'm not sure my plot has any ninja yet so maybe I should switch.

I could work in an aloe plant easily. Genetic engineering is a big theme in my story and the aloe could become carnivorous or a factory for pharmaceuticals - something to do with burns probably.
The heroine could have a cranky toaster... easily.

the aloe could become carnivorous... On a not completely unrelated note, we're seeing "Little Shop of Horrors" on stage next week.

Hmmm, maybe we should all try to work in something - an aloe plant, a toaster - to our stories. That could be fun.
I think I may walk home today. It's a nice day for a long walk and might give me time to plot.

Well, in one little short story I wrote a while ago, the heroine took a commission to design a carniverous plant for a Senator. The Senator then proceeded to feed his political enemies to it. :P
To: Lil'freeper
How about a carnivorous plant to
is a Senator?
You could call it "Teddy."

I already know the toaster's role. There's a fire at the heroine's partner's apartment. I needed a plausible cause that the authorities would cite - but it is really arson and meant to intimidate our heroic agents. An "antique" toaster would do it. "It's a family heirloom and works just fine! You should really try old-fashioned, real toast sometime instead of that vat-grown packaged stuff." *chortle*
To: Corin Stormhands
Hmmm... interesting. Would PETA support him?
To: JenB
I'd be happy to work a story into my story. :)
To: Lil'freeper; Overtaxed
My heroine could keep an aloe plant in her apartment. How hard are they to grow? Would it die while she's off robbing Euroweenie art collections?
The toaster is harder...

They are desert plants and mighty tough. They don't like extreme cold, though they can take some frost. They need lots of light and heat and like well-drained soil.
