Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Today I got another fund raising letter from her with three BREs enclosed. I'm happily mailing them all back individually with a note that says "as long as you morons keep sending these to me, I'll keep sending them back at your expense."Should put a lead weight or two in each, too.

Ah! Red or White "Sox"...
I thought you were asking about Red or White "Cans".
Didn't make any sense. :-)

Good evening! ~sip~ (Made me a daiquiri...)
Just back from a Radio Shack open house dealie. Seemed like a place where I could work for awhile and my past experience might actually count in my favor.
Did a mini interview that went really well, I think. And though the pay isn't super at first glance, with the potential bonuses and commission and benefits, it has the potential to be very nice. And my inner gearhead was really getting excited by the idea of learning all about whosits and whatsits that I don't fully comprehend yet.
It might just work. Now I gotta wait and see if I get called back for a real interview. But I think my chances are good.

Yeah...almost unnervingly well. Had more of those "think of a situation where..." questions, and I had something coherant to say for each. And good questions to ask myself.
It was rather odd, considering just how badly I bumbled the last interview. I was horrible. And I wasn't expecting much of an interview tonight.
I should hear back in a few days. They really want to get people in the store as soon as possible to start prepping them for the holiday season.

Yep. 10% up to 30%, depending on the item. And if I ended up working for more than a month or two, they have medical, dental and vision insurance coverage after the inital sixty days, if I remember right. And a 401k plan, though you have to be there a bit longer for that. That's even just for the regular sales folks - I wasn't sure about that before tonight.
Plus very decent commission and bonuses, as I mentioned. And I'd get to work with customers all the time, which I really like. And it'd be vey easy walking distance even in really bad weather, if I got hired at the one I'm hoping for.

I keep my sox in a drawer, but to each his own.I know Ramius wishes he could stick this SOX somewhere. Sarbannes or Oxley would do, for a start! ;o)

Nope. It wouldn't hurt my feelings any to have to do that for awhile. I'd also pick up a lot of good knowledge, I think. I know basic network cabling, but I'd likely get to learn more about wireless - and wireless phones, for that matter - since they sell those products. That would be a really nice thing.
And if I was able to make pretty OK money at it...hey, I'd think about sticking with it. It'd be heavier on the customer service end than the jobs I've done before, but with plenty of cool gadgets and other toys to satisfy the geek in me.
