Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Right, will pray.
Gah, I need some prayin' myself... got an old health issue that's looking like it wants another go-round and I'm just sick and tired of dealing with it and sick and tired of the so-called cure. Dunno what I'm gonna do now.

hmmm...these Dannon Light'n Fit Smoothies are not unlike the taste and consistency of that barium liquid you drink right before a CT scan...

I'm feeling a bit guilty that I'm not sure if I hope I get it or not. I'm really hoping the college will call back today...but even getting a second interview is no guarantee that I have a chance at the job. And if I'm actually *offered* this one...I'd take it, of course. Remember, if you like the job too much, you wouldn't demand pay to be there. It's a job, not a hobby. :~D

Here's a guy I like.

He doesn't care who he has to take on. And just to satisfy any doubt he means business, he throws in the bit about the claw hammer.

Heh...I know, I know.
The main things I'm unsure about are the ones I mentioned...if I gotta do a lot of driving, that'll be a drag, as will being on-call all the time. On the other hand, it pays really well. That makes up for a multitude of evils. And if I am at one site for a full day at a time instead of being constantly required to drive back and forth...that isn't bad. Especially as the closest site is just over a mile from here. I can walk it.
What'd be insanely great is if I was assigned permanently to this site, and could pretty much always walk in good weather. I'd really like that.

Get the job, I wanna go to Popeyes.
And being tied "in town" during the week... that should be too much of a problem, right? I mean, it's not like we go party in Cheyenne on Wednesday nights or anything. And that one site is a nice walking distance.

It's not much of a problem at the moment, but...you know how it can be, being on call. It's mostly psychological, I guess. but still...
On the other hand, I've never carried a beeper full time. Maybe once I'd had it for a while and had a feeling for about how often anything would actually HAPPEN, it'd not really bug me.

The various sites, as long as they are not HUGH long commutes, appeals to me. The change in environment means you get to see how a lot of different places work, Some will be good, some will be dreadful, but those places aren't your life, they're your assignment. You'll finish there and move on, knowing more about them than you did before. As for the driving, you're looking at that backwards. It's good being paid to listen to the radio as the scenery goes by. Your car is a sanctuary people stuck looking at the same grey cubicle walls would appreciate, not dread. But maybe that's just me. :~D
