Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Thanks - I'm vey glad to get back. This was a taxing trip. My colleagues were a bit unprofessional at times (being toooooo flirtatious with each other, engaging in lewd conversations - all amplified by alcohol).
But I have my hubby, my cats, and those two rascally dogs, my own bed, my own shower, and my own house that doesn't have "hotel smell."
So all is well.
To: RosieCotton
hehe... they'd just think you mistyped "kilt threader".

Yup, but gas jumped $0.22 overnight in Alamogordo, NM. A bit stuning to the expense acct.
To: Ramius
Though they'd probably wonder a bit about that one, too...

Evenin' there... [sigh] I'm having trouble reading any more about N.O. It's all so depressing, but I can't stay away either.

*sigh* Sometimes I think all the people my age who aren't already married are just like your co-workers...perpetual adolescents, and not nice ones at that.
At least the guys at the last place I worked didn't drink and were at least kind of decent when I was around, even if they did use R rated language at all times.

I've managed to walk away from it a little today for the first time since it all started, but it's hard. And it leaves you feeling soooo helpless...all the rescue efforts and evacuation work takes time, and many of those people don't have time.
It's heartbreaking.

heh...I'm paranoid. The talk on the NC board has been about gas stations running out and shutting down airports because they can't get the jet fuel in.
But there's good news on the NC forum too:
The Colonial Pipeline is up at 38% of capacity and serving 8 states. The Plantation pipeline is now operating at 25% of capacity. Both Pipelines expect to be at 60% by Tuesday, but deliveries have to catch up.

Well, the ringleader of the bad behavior is someone from another organization that my organization works for - they buy our data. So I have to maintain a good, professional relationship with that other group. The ringleader is in his mid-40s and loves the girlies - and the younger the better. He has a terrible relationship with his wife and drinks like a fish. So it's drink-flirt-lie to the wife-drink-flirt-lie to the wife. It's so horrible and awkward! Unfortunately the other young women don't do anything to discourage him.
And being an uptight fuddy-duddy, I'm the only one bothered by it.

The talk on the NC board has been about gas stations running out and shutting down airports because they can't get the jet fuel in. It wouldn't surprise me a bit. Big'ol is predicting a recession coming out of this and I tend to agree. Fuel prices drive *everything*

Well....I hope they have jet fuel in Atlanta next Friday. I'm planning a trip home then.

I've only caught tidbits of coverage. My feelings run to anger at what I'm seeing.
To: Overtaxed
Hmmm... flying on Delta??
They're neck-deep in financial trouble. This may sink them for good.
To: Lil'freeper
Yeah....cheaper than Southwest. Hope they can stay in business for a week and a half.
To: Lil'freeper
I feel helpless more than anything.
I don't understand how a convention center full of people can be ignored as they are.
Why can't they air-drop food, water and basic supplies to them if ground supply isn't feasible? And as far as I've seen, it's dry by the convention center.

Are they still without tonight? Because the FEMA Director was on TV today, specifically mentioned the conv. center, and said it was all under control and supplies had been sent. He could call it a lot of things, but under control it wasn't.
I ask because we can't watch for awhile... we're taping a game for ecurbh's boss and I'm afraid to screw it up by trying to watch a different channel while taping.
