Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Interesting. They love a good fire story, but it's interesting it would make the cut there with all the other disaster footage they could show.

Tell me more! I'll want to be able to tell the kids as much as I can... Well, we've been shipping them knives, mostly Camillus BK2s and Gerber LMF II aircrew models for almost two months now. Get 'em while you're stateside is the best policy.
In deference to Ramius, here's our equivalent of the "Coulter rule":

They didn't make O-1s like that when I was in.

That's what it is here...$2.85. I'm glad I filled up.
You know, I got to talking to Steve about the looting situation...I'm wondering if the people that are doing the looting are aware of just how nasty that water is that they're wading around in. We're talking sewer water, and more.
I bet they don't use care with where they put their hands...and do they use antibacterial hand cleanser before they eat with those hands? Or feed their children with them?
Are their tetanus shots current?
I just have a feeling that the type of people that would loot would likely not be the type of people to run down to the health department and keep their shots current...and I have a feeling that the wading around in that water is gonna catch up with them.
Disease is going to run rampant for everyone, but especially for people who aren't big on doing the right thing anyway...like getting their kids shots and such.

Somebody here at the waterin' hole just mentioned that for *some* people... the looting is *why* they stayed behind.
Sickening, but it rings true.

I think so too...
But I think it's gonna bite them on the butt, wading around in that filth.
Cholera...typhoid...tetanus...

You could see on TV the sewers boiling up! And photos from the air showed huge streaks of stuff coming from gas stations and such in the water.

Yep...no doubt we're gonna start seeing the sorts of diseases we associate with third world countries.
Not fun.

I put my old dryer out on the road and put a "FREE" sign on it...then detailed everything that was wrong with it under the word "free".
It's gone.
I pointed out tracks in the grass, tire tracks and said to Joshua "Look, see the tracks where someone came and got the old dryer?"
He said "Now you can know for sure that someone came and got it!"
Um...right! ;-)
