We got power back on Sunday, thank goodness.
Work is absolutely insane! Seems like our clients have lost their minds - and most of them are nowhere near a hurricane affecte area.
Don't apologize for venting, chica.
It makes me feel guilty when I do. :P
Prayers for SirKit's brother and his parish.
That video is heartbreaking. And familiar. :-(
Tell 'em whatever they need is in New Orleans and they're free to go pick it up ;-)
Good morning everyone!

Truly it is devasting. Apparently the bridge that I mentioned to Rose, that was damaged in Camille has been damaged again. All the bridges linking the three counties, Jackson, Harrison and Hancock have been damaged. Those bridges were linking Ocean Springs on the east all the way to Long Beach and Waveland on the west. I read that St. Thomas Church on Hwy 90 was destroyed. That was the new church built after it was destroyed in Camille.
This storm took almost the same path as Camille. Emergency folks have not been able to get to many areas of Bay St. Louis, to the west of Gulfport because of the damage. One group of Guardsmen went out late yesterday and found a house in the middle of the road, so they couldn't get any farther.
The blog mentioned that they're trying to get some aerial photos. I'm anxious to see them. My sisters live in Gautier, just west of Pascagoula, and I've heard nothing about that area, with the exception of the pictures of the flooding in P'goula that I saw yesterday. The Emergency Management folks in P'goula lost their roof in the middle of the storm and had to relocate to the Courthouse. In Biloxi, the back wall of the Emergency Mgt. building collapsed and folks had to swim out of it in life vests! The Mayor of Biloxi is calling it their tsunami, and I'm sure the effects were very similar.
Mornin'.

I'd say this storm was worse than Andrew, sis.
Andrew had devastating winds, but very little water. He was a tornado storm.
Katrina brought tons of water. I cannot begin to imagine how many lives she took with her. :-(
I am astounded by the pictures out of New Orleans. As bad as it is, those people ought to be thanking God that Katrina veered North right at the end. I can only imagine how bad it could have been. Imagine the entire city under water like those areas we're seeing on TV. If the storm had come on shore only 10-15 miles to the west of where it did, it could have been WAY worse!
Definitely.
I'm all choked up with the pics and videos I've seen.
Better get some work done. *sigh*
Be back later.
I'm afraid it's not over for NO. Heard this morning that three levees have been breeched and water is pouring in.
I'll need to check a map of NO to see where this flooding is in relation to where my niece and nephew have their homes in Mid-City. They were not there, but I know they are so worried about their homes, and they won't be able to get back for a while. At least they are with family members, so they're safe.
I just checked the map, and my niece's house is in that area that is in danger of flooding now. She's a mile or two east of the New Orleans Country Club and the Metairie Cemetery, two place that were mentioned in the news reports has beginning to flood because of those levees having broken.
They're talking about flying in sandbags and positioning them using helicopters. Maybe they'll be able to stop the flooding.
At this point, cleaning up the flood that's already there is going to be a massive undertaking, though, even if they stave off worse flooding.
Good morning!
I'm still on the live thread. I woke up this morning and saw the threads about flooding in NO and thought stuff from yesterday had been revived. My heart just sank when I saw it was new news.
Am still trying to contact others.
Good news on the family member!
From what they're saying on the live thread, it looks like those looters won't be keeping their loot.
Glad for that, at least! I hope you get more good news soon!
Good news! Hope you get more good news soon...
Okay, I'm logging of the Net for a while. I've GOT to get some work done.
I can't seem to pull myself away from the news...just...one...more...refresh...
I'll be back later.
