Bad blood between the new President of the University (a female) and Huggins. However, the Enquirer breaking news wasn't specific a to reason.

Bizarre. A lot of schools will be waiting in line for his services, unless it was something pretty serious that caused it.

All he has to do is claim to be part Indian and tell a bunch of lies and they can't fire him.

A lot of schools will be waiting in line for his services ... Don't know who the basketball coach is at the University of West Virginia (Morgantown) ... but I suspect he may be a tad nervous after hearing the news.

All he has to do is claim to be part Indian and tell a bunch of lies and they can't fire him Or claim to be gay. He will keep his job and he will be an instant hero amongst liberals. It worked for the ex-governor of New Jersey.
Or covert to Islam and say something anti-semetic. Liberals like that too.

If he's under contract and not in breech, he should allow himself to be fired unless they are willing to fulfill the financial terms of the contract upon his resignation.

At one time, he had a zero graduation rate and that was just a few years ago.

He had a one night stand at a motel with
her seveal years ago, and then snuck out
on her, without paying the bill?

He had a one night stand at a motel with her several years ago ... He was picked up about a year ago on a DUI ... not long after the new President came on board with the University. More recently a Huggins assistant coach was picked up on a DUI. This, combined with an abysmal graduation rate for his basketball players probably sealed his fate.

From: http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050823/SPT0101/307180007
"A source said a letter would be sent Tuesday to Huggins representative Richard Katz asking the coach to accept a $3 million buyout of the remaining two years of his contract. Huggins would have 24 hours to accept the deal. If he rejected it, the source said, Huggins would be terminated without cause and compensation would be reduced to $2 million."

That combined with a long list of players in trouble with the law and multiple NCAA sanctions over the years.

He should take the money and resign then.
Wow, he must have pissed somebody off in a big way for them to be willing to kick in an extra mil.
I wonder if he would be going to far to ask for a letter of recommendation?

UC president Nancy Zimpher has her agenda, and Huggs isn't part of it. That's the bottom line...
From: http://www.wcpo.com/news/2005/local/05/20/zimpher.html
"On Friday, UC great Oscar Robertson told Channel 9's Paula Faris that Huggins-Zimpher relations have gone from bad to none.
Nancy Zimpher has a vision for the University of Cincinnati, but Bob Huggins isn't in the picture.
On Friday, the president unveiled UC-21, a description of how the university will move forward.
One of her goals is to raise academic standards, including entrance exam scores. "
