They really didn't pick the funny stuff. The options were too few. They picked stuff which was very often was as subtle as a freight train. I'll noted that the right wing stuff was better. I liked the TIME one, though. I think they thought it was a slam at Bush. I saw it as a slap at TIME.
Comedy is about surprises. Going one way and taking it another. Riffs on "Bush is dumb" doesn't really qualify as funny, no matter how they're done.

You remain fiercely dedicated to fighting the twin evils of terrorism and liberalism, and you'd walk across a field of land mines if it meant casting a deciding vote for a Republican president.
