I like the game, but it's pretty buggy compared to all the other shooters I've played. It's almost as if they let the Sims people work on it.
The slow menus and no escaping is one thing I first noticed. The lack of the ability to change your name without registering a whole new profile is silly too.
Then there are some people who just shouldn't mod. I was just on a server that evidently had a mod that tried to make the concussion of being hit or having arty drop nearby more realistic. In effect, they seemed to have just written delay loops because every time you got the least little hit, the game would crawl and stutter until you finally died. That was usually right away because you would be standing there with your guy stuttering and someone would walk up and shoot you.
It was nice to see you at ROX yesterday.
Yeah, great to see you guys too. You guys are good.
Once I get it figured out, I'll be on more.
I can't wait for Operation Flashpoint 2 to come out, though I've been waiting for years now. It's supposed to be out next spring, but then again, each year they've pushed the date back another few months. The original OFP was great. It had a command structure like BF2, with commanders able to give orders. It also had tanks, helicopters and planes.
The biggest problem with it was it's multiplayer interface. You had to get a group together and wait for everyone to get ready to join a game. It was mission oriented, so there was no respawning and everyone had to join at the same time.
The vehicle simulations were pretty good in the original. If the second version ever comes out, I expect it to be excellent.
I have to apologize too if anyone said anything to me and it seemed that I ignored it. I still haven't gotten to where I can absorb all the messages going by. Is there an option to increase the font size or position of the messages?
What do you guys use to fly, the mouse or joystick? I tried with the mouse - I ate dirt. I tried with just the keyboard and the same thing. I could try not touching the controls and my helicopter will pitch over and flip. I finally hooked up my old sidewinder. It may be promising. I'll have to mess with the sensitivity settings and whatnot.
No worries. It all takes time to get used to. I don't think there is a font option. I also use a Sidewinder. BF2 has a longer learning curve than most games I've ever played. BTW, to join a squad, hit enter, hit squads, then look around for your freeper friends and join us. Make sure u exit the squad screen back to the weapons screen to spawn.
There are two types of sensitivity settings in BF2... mouse sensitivity, and yaw/pitch factors. For the tank, I have the mouse sensitivity set at 3, and the horizontal yaw at 5. For helicoptor I forget, but its probably set at 3 and 3. Your last option (settings) is the correct one. I use mouse and keyboard... it's always been much more accurate and precise than a joystick.
Anybody in tonight? I bought COH tonight. Pay to play? Weird iterface. I may return this one.
You have to pay to play it online???
Still trying to get the hang of the power invoking controls but the blaster is fun so far.
Yeah, wait til you get the 'build up' power. POW!!!! Then run for your life or have a healer in the group...JFK
The interface is weird and takes a little getting used to, but its pretty fun once you do. But if you do decide to return it, I can totally understand. If it wasnt a comic book style game, I wouldnt have even bought it as I didnt buy EQ or any of the other MMORPGs...JFK
What's a "build up" power? I just got a choice of a "pool power" but had no idea what to choose or even if I should choose one.
It should be in your secondary power set, though I am not sure if that power is available across the whole of the blaster secondary power sets. It is just called 'Build Up' and it causes a MASSIVE increase in the damage you deal for about 5 or 6 seconds, long enough to launch about 4-5 attacks. Careful with the AoE blasts after though, unless you have a tanker and scrap there to pull aggro off of you, and you have a healer to heal the damage you take when they all get very angry with you. But its fun as hell...:-)...JFK
Like I said, fitness is pretty much an essential power set for blasters and controllers as they are endurance hogs when they start letting loose. Characters who want a better mode of transportation should also look into taking one of the lower level travel powers so that they can take the good ones once they achieve 15th lvl (I think). Taking 'Jump Kick' or 'Combat Jumping' early on means that 'Super Jump' will be available at that higher level, same with the other travel powers.
Those powers should be detailed in the handbook, and you can scroll through them when you are leveling up while in the 'choose new power' screens...JFK
Thanks for the info. I don't have a manual since I'm playing on the PCGamer 21-day free trial.
Accuracy Buff / Accuracy DeBuff?
Defense Buff / Defense DeBuff?
They both seem to read the same. I have assumed one is offensive improvement and the other a defensive reduction in the opponent. But WTF, over?
