Thanks for th eping, I saw it.

I had to laugh when Jeff said you don't know this guy, talking about KK when Bob was gushing over his choir boy looks.

Also on September 25th CNN is doing a special show on Nascar with their resident Doc Gupta. Not sure what the theme of the show will be.

DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) - Car owner Jack Roush is still thinking about letting Nextel Cup champion Kurt Busch out of the final year of his contract in 2006.

"We will consider releasing him, but it's not presumed that we will," Roush said Monday at Darlington Raceway.
"We've got to consider ... the interests of our sponsors and the commitments we've made to our sponsors and to our people within the organization ... to see how it all fits together if we decide to have Kurt drive the number 97 car.

"Right now, the presumption is that he'll be in the car in 2006 because that's a commitment he's made to me and I've made commitments to others around that," Roush said.

Last week, Busch signed a deal to drive for Roger Penske in 2007 and asked Roush that he be released from his current contract after this season.

Roush already faces a high-profile opening next season with Mark Martin's pending retirement. Roush signed Jamie McMurray to replace Martin in 2007, but does not have anyone lined up to drive the No. 6 car next year.

McMurray wants to leave Chip Ganassi Racing after 2005, but can't get out of the final year of his agreement.

Roush said that's OK with him.

Ya never really know what will happen, but I think he is toast too. Our guesses on Tony being toast yesterday were way off the mark though.LOL

Thank you for summarizing the Jayski info. Your Larry Mac color chart is fun to read too..!!

It's great to be able to read these things here rather than having to go all over the Web to find them.

I post a lot of news items as well, although I wonder at times if anyone reads them? (I know tubebender does)

Ever since NASCAR/Speed turned NASCAR Nation into a puff piece (and kicked Larry Mac and his color charts to the curb), Jayski is the only source of news.

I just read that ESPN will begin a Nascar news program with Jayski phoning in some of his reports. I will go back and try to find the start date.

Here it is......it looks like it's from Jayski but I got it elsewhere.

New ESPNews NASCAR Show to debut 9/12: starting on September 12, 2005, ESPNews will air "Chase for the Nextel Cup", extended NASCAR coverage. The show will air at 9:00pm/et with NASCAR Legend Geoffrey Bodine [19 wins, Daytona 500 Champ] and ESPN's Linda Cohn.

Also on Monday's throughout the Cup season, Jayski is scheduled to 'appear' via phone on ESPNews TV Channel [DirecTV 207, check local listings] on the 4 Qtrs TV show with David Lloyd. The segment will air around 7:20pm/et range on Monday's. Usually cover 3-4 of the hotseat topics in NASCAR Nextel Cup.

Aikman-Staubach team lands sponsor, set for '06 Nextel Cup racing

Tuesday, August 16, 2005

Finally, the deal is done. Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach are going Nextel Cup racing in 2006.

The former Cowboys quarterbacks and their Hall of Fame Racing team reached agreement with Texas Instruments, which will become the primary sponsor next season. The sponsorship branding on the car is TI's DLP Products technology for high-definition TV.

Aikman also announced the team has a partnership agreement with Joe Gibbs Racing. JGR will supply Chevrolet engines, equipment and technology to Hall of Fame Racing.

"It's hard for me to express how excited and enthusiastic we are about this," Aikman said. "I didn't enter into this with any illusions, but it was more difficult than I expected."

Aikman first announced his plans to own a NASCAR team with Staubach in January 2003 at Texas Motor Speedway.

I love those dirt cars Jeremy Mayfield has, as profiled on Nascar Nation a while back. I want to get me a half dozen of them for my daughters and me!

Aikman said the car colors and number haven't been determined, but he knows one thing for certain: The car won't have the No. 8 from his Cowboys days.

"I don't think Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Dale Jr. are going to part with that one," he said.

"We've had several top drivers contact us," Saunders said. "They realize we have one of the best new seats in NASCAR. We have a world-class sponsor in TI and brother-sister relationship with Joe Gibbs Racing. That's going to help us get quality people."

That reminds me; I miss Hales Corners Speedway (since replaced with a Menard's; the only reminders left are the names of the extended development and the street that runs along that development).

I got to take my 4 daughters out to see a great night of dirt track racing a couple weekends ago. We live about 2 1/2 hours away, so we don't get out there much and are stuck with the closer asphalt tracks.

After the races, they let everyone in the pits. We went over to their favorite drivers trailer, and as they were getting autographs, my youngest (by 4 minutes) asked "Can I have a hug?" It was an awesome moment, and of course, she got her hug.

This one is from last year:

I don't think that Penske will let the #12 from Staubach's playing days go either. Dunno if they want to be associated with Danny White and the #11, though since they're now associated with Joe Gibbs Racing (now there's an ironic twist), the #11 could be had cheaply.

One of these days, I'll have to head to Powercomm Park (a fine dirt track north of me).

Nice pic and story.
