This week we are going to Watkins Glen International Raceway in New York. Please join us for a full weekend of racing.

Watkins Glen International continues a road-racing tradition that dates back to 1948 -- when sports cars competed on the streets of the village at the southern tip of scenic Lake Seneca. The circuit, which at one time hosted the F1 United States Grand Prix, has grown to become one of the most respected facilities in the northeast.

I'm in and out. Mostly just to check on my favs -- Truex, Menard, Smoke.

As said before, I HATE single-file racing. Side-by-side makes me sit on the edge of my seat.

And, the truck race starts in 45 minutes in Nashville. I wonder what the weather is like there?

It's the same down there (Nashville airport was reporting a thunderstorm a half-hour ago).

With apologies to Weather Glock,...

Nashville Superspeedway radar.

Did I hear NBC right about going green shortly? They've now put 10 of 82 laps in under the green/yellow at below-freeway speeds.

They got the saws out trying to cut grooves into the track to take care of seepage.

We're now working our 12th green/yellow lap. Will be less than 70 laps of green-flag racing.

Yes maybe going green. They cut grooves in the track with a circular saw. LOL

I wonder if Smoke wins if they will put those saws on sale at Home Depot? Of course that's not his sponsor today but......

13 green/yellow laps now complete. I decided to switch to the radio scan from the MRN coverage to see if I can scoop NBC/MRN on a decision.

LOL (mehtinks either he'll have to win tomorrow or JJ Yeley will have to win today).

2 to go this time as they complete lap 14.

NASCAR mandates camber angle for front wheels

By JIM UTTER

ThatsRacin.com Writer

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – NASCAR has decided to do what many of its Nextel Cup series crew chiefs would not – alter race set-ups to reduce the chance of blown tires.
Beginning next weekend at Michigan International Speedway, NASCAR will mandate a maximum front-wheel camber angle of eight degrees. Camber is the degree tires are tilted in order to maximize its performance through the turns.

NASCAR issued a technical bulletin to teams this weekend notifying them of the change. Aggressive chassis set-ups – including high degrees of camber and low air pressures – have been blamed for several tire problems this season, most notably at Pocono and Michigan.

"I think a lot of the problems are race track specific, but NASCAR felt felt it had to do something," said Greg Zipadelli, crew chief for series points leader Tony Stewart.

Who cares if it is green or yellow -- it is still single-file racing!!!

He-he-he. I slay myself.

Team radios either silent or broken. A couple drivers waved off the "start/restart" as we complete 15 laps. It will be a single-file start.

"Racing" implies that there's changes of positions. So far, there hasn't been any.

16 laps of 82 complete, and it's 1 to go to green.
