Arizona home to one of the most beautiful locations in the United States.
The USA Weekend Magazine has rated the Red Rock Country in Sedona as the Most Beautiful Place in America.
The selection was made by travel writers, outdoor enthusiasts and relatives of the magazine's staff.
Sedona beat out the likes of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and sights in Hawaii and Florida.
The guidelines for voters were simple, that the place be accessible to the public and reasonably well known.

1. Red Rock Country (Sedona, Ariz.)
2. Nighttime view from Mount Washington in Pittsburgh
3. The upper Mississippi River
4. Hawaii's Na Pali Coast
5. Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco
6. Grafton, Vt.
7. Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
8. From Key Largo to Key West in Florida
9. Clingmans Dome along the Appalachian Trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park
10. The squares of Savannah, Ga
All very nice, I'm sure. I have to go with the Methow Valley in north-central Washington State as #1.
Very nice. No construction, no people, nothing but beautiful landscape.
And big trout, salmon and steelhead in the Methow river! ;o)

I've been there. It is lovely, but doesn't make my top 10. :o)
I agree that Sedona is beautiful, and I especially agree with Jenny Lake in Wyoming. But c'mon Pittsburgh? The other places listed are pretty but not top ten. Where's the San Juan mountain area of Colorado (Telluride, Silverton, Durango)? Canyonlands of Utah? Cascades in Washington? Yosemite?

The north cascade mountains are in the background of my pic in post #1!

I'm guessing you are correct!
Be safe! :o)
I love the Cascades - they should be on the list. Here's one of one of the San Juans in Colorado. Also nice.

I'm going to Sedona next month...we'll see. How did they leave Yosemite Valley, Big Sur, Lake Tahoe, and Catalina Island off the list?
Isn't Sedona a lesbian destination spot?
Arizona has lotsa beautiful places in addition to Sedona! Have fun. You listed some good ones, Jeeves.
I have very fond memories of sipping a cold beer mid-mountain on one of Tahoe's ski slopes looking down at the gorgeous lake!!
I can't believe noone mentioned the majestic culm banks of Northeastern Pennsylvania. A more beautiful sight I can't imagine, but then again, I may be biased.
Ha! I hope not. My uncle and aunt raised their two kids there. Their kids had kids and they all stayed put. They love the area.
