Yeah, but how many pitchers are there ,on a team expected to throw a curve ball? Every sport is different. My opinion, how much skill does it take to play ice hockey vs, say, 3rd base? Maybe not as much specialization overall in Hockey, but everyone has to skate really well, so average it out and?. Not everyone in b ball has to throw a curve....

Find me one team at or above the high school level without a curveball pitcher. Find me one hitter that has made it to the college ranks and can't hit one. It's an essential skill.

Hockey is much more skillful than most any sport. There are big fundamental reasons why Americans don't like soccer and won't for at least several generations. Maybe I'll post them.
