Yeah, but PC or not, at least the black lady was LIKEABLE. She was awful. Load of "personality", but couldn't do a cooking show to save her life -- she could smile and chat, but couldn't provide an informative or organized presentation at all. I'll agree Dan & Steve are creepy. I preferred the other gal (the "healthy cooking" one) and Hans -- though to be fair to the producers, he really did screw the pooch on his last challenge.

Me and the little lady cuddled up on the sofa and watched the whole thing I see you're practicing your phrasing. Remember when Jerry pretended Courtney Cox was his wife so he could get her a discount on dry cleaning? They riffed about how interesting it was to start a sentence with "My wife..."
"My wife has an inner ear infection."

That guy you 're talking about was so untidy.
Exactly, in fact, the way he spoke, it looked like he was always spitting all over the place. Just gross. Good riddance to him. Hope he's having fun with his "knobs of buttah", "easy-peasy" there, Jambo.
I like the Two Fat Ladies (now one retired Fat Lady). All the places they visited around the UK were interesting and beautiful.
I agree with you on the background and places they visited. The actual cooking on the other hand didn't do it for me. Too much boiled meat and cream sauces for my liking. But an entertaining show none the less.

I almost typed "Me and the wifey..."
That was a classic episode, btw.

Her show with Jacques Pepin was classic.
YES! I think he mentioned it, said something like "If there said there wasn't enough salt, she'd say it was just right. If I said it was just right, she'd say it needed salt." I loved the way she'd always take good natured little jabs at him.

I enjoyed those two, but their hair should have been tied up and there was no need for the dragon lady fingernails while cooking. Otherwise they were fun and it was entertaining. I used to like, years ago, Madeline who was a French cook. She was clean and organized and did not chatter incessantly like some cooks who go on like "..now I'm going to pick up the spoon, now I'm going to stir the pot..." give me a break! we can see that!!!

Rachel is like 'Beat the Clock' and is so nerve wracking to watch...everything in a hurry and that screechie voice. She has the speech and manners of a washerwoman...she has no poise at all. No one will ever mistake her for a lady.

Agreed. Don't you love the "gangsta" hand gestures (elbows sticking way out, index finger pointed at a 45-degree angle toward whatever she is eating)? I'm always waiting for the "yo, yo, yo, dis here be da BOMB!"

Alton is my favorite...If he wasn't already married, I'd be propositioning the puppy.
OK, so I watch Tyler Florence cuz he's cute.
Rachael Ray is fun, like having a girlfriend over for a visit...but I can't watch her more than a few times a week (like said girlfriend). I swear, it's like she's on cocktail of Prozac and caffiene. She's exhausting just to watch!
I like Giada somewhat, but she too is a little, hmmmm, dainty..prissy....I don't believe she eats what she fixes, ifyaknowaddamean.
Ina Garten I watch just for kithen and her pantry (OK, so something about all that space for those few dishes just makes me swoon).
Paula Deen is a local hero and so much like so many of my relatives it's like going over to my Aunt Winnie's for Thanksgiving Dinner every Saturday morning. What she does best is what "I" was raised on.... Kryspy Kreme bread pudding, cornbread dressing, seasoned greens etc. OK, so we both are chunky monkeys ;) but we know our way around a kitchen.
Emeril is OK, but I can honestly say he's never held my attention like the others. I think it's the whole schtick of the show, being a "show". All the others at least make you feel like you're in 'their' home and kitchen as a guest.
Anyhow, between FOOD, HGTV, Fox and the occaisional movie...that's my TV life.

"Food 911" is my fav. Tyler teaches people how to make their favorite dishes. You can just tell that he's a nice guy in real life too.
They should give Tyler another show and cut down on all the Rachael Ray shows.
I wish "Food 911" was on at 5:30 or 6:00 though.

I wonder what charm school she attended to learn those tactless gestures and that street behavior and language. Unfortunately, she is typical of all the young 'ladies' around these days. The girl is a regular hoyden. Not what you call refined.

I am being the BIGGEST airhead. If not for a wonderful Freeper asking me to add them to my ping list (when I *know* I added their name.)**thank you, MotleyGirl70** I would not have realized that I posted a ping, but forgot to actually ping anyone. Oops! I'll blame it on my kids distracting me. LOL!

There's more appeal to a "common" person than a snob.

For ken5050: I was sure this was going to be an Italian pastry that I have made a few times. Then, I saw that ricotta. Mmm.Yum. My favorite part was her telling Emeril he was doing it wrong.

Spingi: Italian Donut Fritters Recipe courtesy Phyllis Restivo, Delray Beach, FL
See this recipe on air Saturday Aug. 13 at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
Oil, for deep frying
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 pound ricotta cheese
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 to 2 cups granulated or cinnamon sugar, for rolling
Heat the oil to 350 to 365 degrees F.
Combine all ingredients, except the rolling sugar, with an electric mixer until smooth. Drop by tablespoons into hot oil. Fry fritters until cooked thorough and golden brown, about 6 to 8 minutes.
Remove from oil with tongs and drain on a cookie sheet lined with paper towels. While still very hot, roll each ball in granulated sugar.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
You can also add diced apples, bananas, or any other fruit to the recipe

Lat night..Iron Chef America..Batalli LOST..one of his dishes was shrip wrapped then fried, in lardo..which is pure pork fat..so when the judges were tasting..one guy said..a humorous compliment.."I'd have to eat this for an hour to be sure I really, really, liked it.." Then the next judge..she interrupts...."And then you'll drop dead.."

We saw a commercial for a show called The American Princess. The announcer asks, "Who will be the first American Princess?" My husband said, "Hopefully not the girl saying, 'fer sure, fer sure, fer sure.'"

The gf and I just got back from New Orleans, where we dined several times at Emerils NOLA. What a treat, all the food is fantastic, the service is great. Next time you should venture around the corner for one of your meals... north on St. Louis and west on Royal... K-Pauls. Worth it.
