Two weeks ago we discussed those items that we can't live without, that were worth every penny we paid for them.
Let's go in the opposite direction today. We all have items we have purchased, often with high hopes for it's usefulness, that we regretted purchasing shortly after the fact.
Regale us with your stories of duds, or warn us about things not to purchase.

ditto on the breadmaker, and a ton of other useless appliances I thought had to be on a wedding registry!!! I used it once, about three years ago, and that was it. Now it just wastes space.
Now some of us are making a list of "don't even bother getting" for some new moms here of baby stuff that flubbed or was too expensive and we found cheaper that we liked better.

Oh this is easy, a bread machine. I have grown up baking bread, and thought this might be easier, and much less messy. Nope, almost every loaf I made failed to rise (which never happened before) and if it did rise, it tasted terrible... Interesting. I've had one since my wedding in 97 and we've found it helpful. Granted, it's not the best for baking the bread, but it does a fairly good job doing the mixing and whatnot. The wife prefers to let it do all the hard work, then she'll do a final rise and bake it in the oven.
Great for autumn nights to have a warm bread snack before bedtime.

"I had my days so mixed up and confused that I absolutely completely and totally forgot to start one."
Gabz, I specifically gave you that little "Pills by the Day" organizer so this would stop happening!
I guess then THAT'S my purchased item that's not worth a plugged nickle... ;)

A $200 digital pen Should I ask what a "digital pen" does? Does it only write ones and zeroes?

It stores the text you write on paper, except that the paper must be a certain kind of paper. One of the dumbest things I ever bought.

On topic, my wife purchased this "roll-a-hose" that was "As seen on TV" and it was utter crap. Once you unrolled it from the spool, you would have to ensure that it returned to a completely straight and flat state before it could be re-rolled. And, of course, the fittings on either end were cheap plastic and they snapped when I left it outside in the winter.

Breadmaker OK for mixing pizza dough.
Don't get me started on:
Small engines designed for sea-level
HP Computers
and
ANY revolver not made by S&W or Colt.

It stores the text you write on paper, except that the paper must be a certain kind of paper. So, it has less functionality than a traditional, analog writing instrument? Did it at least have LEDs that spin around and make amusing patterns, like the "magic wand" my 4-year-old won at the fair last week?
"Analog writing instrument" What an odd phrase.

Didn't think you did - but you do have one operating the blender, apparently :)

I never was able to bake a decent loaf of bread n my life.........so the bread machine was a great item. I do admit though, hubby is the expert at it's use. I just find the recipes for him :)
