Two weeks ago we discussed those items that we can't live without, that were worth every penny we paid for them.
Let's go in the opposite direction today. We all have items we have purchased, often with high hopes for it's usefulness, that we regretted purchasing shortly after the fact.
Regale us with your stories of duds, or warn us about things not to purchase.
Paint. I've currently got a gallon of sunburst yellow and a gallon of sky blue. My former office/den is now morphing into a play room because "the light is better", and I couldn't say "give me a gallon of sage" to the paint guy at the hardware store. I tried to weenie out on the color decision by handing it over to my wife. Now I'm faced with a two tone paint job, sponged, with a chair rail wall paper boarder in the middle.
I'll second that - especially the DVD's. I hate buying movies that turn out to be stinkers when the trailers looked so good.
I've long maintained that there ought to be an academy award for the best movie trailer. The editing in those things is brilliant - they tell the story in 3 minutes or less, capture the very best moments of the film, and almost completely eliminate the need to watch the whole film.
When was the last time anyone saw a movie that was better than it's trailer?
After 2 years I have finally gotten used to the electric cooktop. There is not natural gas in this area, and since the heat is oil and everything else is electric, I didn't feel like worrying about remembering to fill the propane tank. As it is, we're notorious for running out of gas while cooking on the grill :)
I'm not touching that first one :)
Wedding Crashers, which actually has twenty times as much funny material as the trailer hints at. But usually you are right - there is nothing in the film that the trailer hasn't already given away. What I hate is when something funny or interesting in the trailer gets cut out of the film in the final edit before it is released. That's seems to happen more and more often.
I bought one of those "create-the-whirlpool/jacuzzi-effect-in-your-own-bathtub" units that certainly did NOT have that effect . . . it was definitely a waste of money :)
That will teach you..................
We have a paint problem as well. We've got most of a 5 gallon bucket of a green that we thought was going to be a deep forest green (that's what it looks like on the sample) instead it is this absolutely HORRID vivid color. We decided vinyl siding on the house is a much better idea :)
Amother thing that is a piece of crap is the blender with the pour spout. The spout always breaks off when you drop the thing after about the 5th or 6 batch of double-shot margaritas.
Electic Deep fryer, Not as easy as they are seen on TV. Never by stuff off the TV ! Mother-in-law visiting orders all these junk gagets off TV, Shipping and Handling more than useless products to return.
Food dehydrator.
The bananas always came out like shoe leather.
And Shrek 2 on DVD. They had one of those Buy 2 get 1 free deals at Blockbuster. So we picked up Oceans 12, Exorcist A New Beginning, and S2. We liked S1, so we figured it would be good to just buy the second without seeing it first. Now I'm stuck with it. The used store downtown won't even buy it off of me.
I heard O's12 stunk too. My husband keeps trying to watch it, but often just goes back to playing Xbox.
No. We don't go to the opera very much.
Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!! make yourself at home!
My ex-girlfriend. Nothing but a money pit, everytime I turned around there was something to be fixed, and I didn't get much on the trade-in, either.
My only solace is that the light really is better...
You are a sadist.................
sounds like an operator problem to me :)
I don't have a problem drinking.
That's a shame. I love my food dehydrator.
A $200 digital pen...this is also part of my 'dave ramsey' stupid tax, first among many stupid taxes I've paid ;-)
