In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of four "Words for the Day".
1. habromania
Noun: [from Greek words habros meaning graceful or delicate and mainesthai to be mad]:
a kind of insanity during which the delusions are of a cheerful character
2.quackle [onomatopoeic]
to choke or suffocate
3. uranism [YUR-en-ism: from the Greek Urania, another name for the Greek goddess of sex and love Aphrodite. This is what my 3-volume Websters says. I thought Urania was just the Muse of astronomy. Then there was the Titan Uranus who was the sky god and first ruler. He was the son of Gaea, who created him without help. He then became the husband of Gaea (why the complex is named after Oedipus, who at least didn't know he was marrying his mom, instead of Uranus, is beyond me, but I digress) and together they had many offspring, including twelve of the Titans. His rule ended when when Cronus, encouraged by Gaea, castrated him. He either died from the wound or withdrew from earth.]
a homosexual condition especially when involving physically normal males
4. Friday word:
souteneur [pronounced soo-ten-EUR, from French sustenir to support]
A type of pimp, a man who cohabits with a prostitute, lives off her earnings, and often solicits for her - also called cadet
Example sentence:
Souteneur: think Bill and President Hillary.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using one or more of the Words for the Day in one or more sentences.
The sentences must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

No pushing at the door please!
Speaking of which, did you hear about the Newfie lottery? The winner gets a dollar a year for a million years. (I heard that one long ago back in the 70's).
Next?
We used to hog tie pigs or is it hogs. I guess it was dangerous, but didn't bother me when I was a youngster. Adventures when you're young!
Is it Newfoundland where the natural hot springs heat the homes in winter. Or am I thinking of a different country?
I don't think you need a ghost writer for any portion of it. You are a good writer, with a flair for telling a story and making us feel as though we are there, observing it as it unfolds.
ship, as she listed to port in the harbor. Darn it, I new I should have replaced that pump. But the owners were cheap, always on about saving a dime...
WFTD, WOTD, whatever. Words. We deal in words. We love it, even when we don't admit it. More words.
I wonder if my friends know how much I value their words?
That she is. What did you think of manson eyes? LOL.
That must be some other place, Miss Slip.
Oh yeah, you can tell Aggie jokes, but can you understand them?
Wise guy! I'll have to tell you the Lubbock joke that I heard at yell practice many years ago.
Good morning!
I just saw your post about the woman going off in a police cruiser and had to laugh-the loon has gone postal on sheriff's deputies twice when they tried to reason with her, hitting, biting, swearing, etc-but I think they had her cuffed by the time they put her into the cruiser...
My ex-husband, an A&M graduate knew lots of good Aggie jokes...
Speaking of the loon, the only time she's been home since Thursday morning was yesterday for about two hours in the late afternoon-I saw her leaving at about 6:30 when I was grilling ribs, and her car was not in her driveway when I went out to see hubby off to work and lock the gate this morning. Prolonged absences on her part usually mean that she is either shacked up with some new guy she picked up at a bar or in jail-both circumstances which mean she is working up to a major manic episode that everyone on this road will be witness to as soon as she is at home for more than a couple of hours...
well when you see the footage on fox, you think, what kind of nutball would carry on like that, breaking out the windshield of a cruiser, and then you think, well the kind that lives down there near T5!~
the question that comes to mind is, where does the money come from to support the lifestyle, drinking and doping? bc it doesn't sound like she is capable of working. inheritance, divorce proceeds, what? and is it a bottomless pit of cash? how does she keep her house?
"support the lifestyle"
Interestingly enough, she does go to work every day-she is a CPA who has a small but well established business near Boerne-I pass right by her office every time I go to Boerne and points near there, and her car is always right out front. I know that she got a generous divorce settlement that included the house and her husband paying off her beemer and she is apparently still rational enough to make her house payment before she goes off partying and spending madly, but who knows how long that will be the case-she loves to shop and spends an enormous amount of money on hunting togs to go to bars in. She also has the recurrent enabler boyfriend who comes running to her rescue every time she gets into a jam-he is her fail-safe...
I'm off to see a customer near Kerrvillle-she just called to say that she's home from work-I'll come to class later...
Any excuse to call the lawnboys, eh? ;-)
