In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of four "Words for the Day".
1. habromania
Noun: [from Greek words habros meaning graceful or delicate and mainesthai to be mad]:
a kind of insanity during which the delusions are of a cheerful character
2.quackle [onomatopoeic]
to choke or suffocate
3. uranism [YUR-en-ism: from the Greek Urania, another name for the Greek goddess of sex and love Aphrodite. This is what my 3-volume Websters says. I thought Urania was just the Muse of astronomy. Then there was the Titan Uranus who was the sky god and first ruler. He was the son of Gaea, who created him without help. He then became the husband of Gaea (why the complex is named after Oedipus, who at least didn't know he was marrying his mom, instead of Uranus, is beyond me, but I digress) and together they had many offspring, including twelve of the Titans. His rule ended when when Cronus, encouraged by Gaea, castrated him. He either died from the wound or withdrew from earth.]
a homosexual condition especially when involving physically normal males
4. Friday word:
souteneur [pronounced soo-ten-EUR, from French sustenir to support]
A type of pimp, a man who cohabits with a prostitute, lives off her earnings, and often solicits for her - also called cadet
Example sentence:
Souteneur: think Bill and President Hillary.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using one or more of the Words for the Day in one or more sentences.
The sentences must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

No pushing at the door please!
Have I ever told you the story of my conversation with #1 son when he woke up (heavily drugged) from wisdom teeth extraction?
No mating?
No castling, kinging, queening, or pawing around the abode???!?!?!?!??!
(St Ronnie will be most disappointed........)
Come to kill us all!
Look! Look! Look! Look!
tonight is our last night in CO and we are going to a rodeo. it will be my first.
It's very simple. He opened his eyes, very confused and groggy from the drugs and saw me sitting nearby, spouting nonsense (as instructed by the nurse) and said: "Oh, Mom.(like I'm a long lost friend) It's you! I love you, Mom." and promptly passed out. He has no memory of this. (Strangely enough, these are almost verbatim some of my dad's last words as he was dying of cancer...he got clearance from the tower, took off in his plane and began talking to departed loved ones...his mother died when he was seven.)
That was my treasure from 2003.
I compare this with my daughter's tooth (not wisdom)extraction, which required valium, nitrous oxide and ultimately scopalomine to knock her out. On the ride home, she told me that she was a triangle and attempted to open the car door as we drove down Hwy 17 at rush hour.
Once home, she successfully opened the car door (not easy with three arms) and hugged a camphor tree on her way to the front door. She then hugged the walls all the way to her bedroom where she slept for 16 hours.
After his sister had left the room then seven year old #1 son expressed to me that he believed his sister may have fallen in with the wrong crowd at school, because she might (just "might")have been taking drugs...
I saw a little bull riding on OLN last month. "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!"
I don't get it. (?)
You're right, Robert. I'm too old for dancing, preferring regular foreplay instead.
I like you "Soubeteur", well done. A mini golf course, HAH!
Good luck, Loney.
I was a kid so long ago, I think all we had was Mattel toys.
A book I will not purchase, and if given it, I will not read.
Good choice.
Excellent, Tex!!
Done.
Yes, or the planet. Please see my lengthy entry in the introduction under "uranism" (word # 3).
I don't think he's smart enough to be one.
Thank you. You're welcome. See Vast's reply # 145.
I love cuddling after sex. At least, that's the way I remember it. :^) But when I was about 21 I didn't, something in the instinct would practically bellow at me to get the hell out afterwards.
