I have to admit I didn't know this.
DEI director of motorsports Richie Gilmore said he is close to signing Tony Eury Jr., an employee of 15 years who is currently crew chief for the #15 for Michael Waltrip. "The Eurys have never had contracts; they've always just been there," Gilmore said. "It's always been an agreement and a year-to-year deal and Tony Jr. has told me he's not going anywhere. We're working on a deal and it would be his first contract ever."(St Petersburg Times)(8-7-2005)
Here is today's National Anthem scheduled peformers.
National Anthem: Country music superstars Diamond Rio will sing the national anthem before the start of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard on Sunday afternoon. (IMS)(8-6-2005)
I'm just about out of here for now.
Can we pick cautions now?
I will take 9 if it's ok.

C'ya later WCG.
Morning steveegg
I be up early, just lurked in the crowd most of yesterday and last night ,, some good racing
got to go pick wifey up a book shelf early so I can make it back for the race, Thanks for all the info and stuff too!
Some folks DO have it bad. :-]
I'll pick 11 cautions.
Do I smell the formation of a new renegade racing league in the near future? OH oh. lol
Be back in a couple...
#99 - Carl Edwards (wrecked primary in practice, qualified 38th)
#2 - Rusty Wallace (wrecked primary in qualifying, was to start 41st)
#36 - Boris Said (wrecked primary in qualifying, was to start 32nd)
I could not find any definitive word on the #41, which also wrecked in qualifying. If they go to the backup, they'll give up the 40th spot.
ALso, no word on anybody making unapproved changes (this turned into an impound race).
After the "success" of open-wheel racing after Tony George took the Indy 500 and ran home with it? Not even the return of the dominant pre-IRL CART teams to the Brickyard and Danikamania could bring the IRL close to the success that CART enjoyed before The Split (and I forgot to mention that CART had to reorganize under Chapter 11).
Proof; take a look at the Milwaukee open-wheel races. The old Miller 200/225, which was run the Sunday after Indy, was the biggest race at the Mile before The Split. Afterward, the CART event lost Miller as the sponsor and started losing fans (moving the race off its date one year didn't help either). With the expansion of the Grandstand, it's kind of hard to compare before-and-after, but the Busch Series has become so dominant that it outdrew both Champ Car and IRL combined this year (and that was with only 1 Buschwhacker and with Danikamania hyped by the local media).
