Now that I look at the last lap times, a lot of slow laps. Could be weather related looking at the glocksters radar.

Note: doubtful anyone has made a qualifying run yet. (except for Mears) Are they going to DEI??
Inside garage scuttlebutt this week is that JJ has a great car. Wish I had known that yesterday.
The times so far mirror those of July 18 & 19 practice that I posted on last weeks thread.

a small portion of Dover International Speedway's concrete backstretch to buckle And in Nascar news from Brain France, a motocross style jump will be added to the backstretch at Dover to further expand the growing fan base.

Ha ha, I saw that this morning.
I watched those monster trucks the other night jumping the dirt bumps. He could add a few more rumble or ripple strips too for a great time. Shorten the spoiler a bit more, change the gear rule again. And make the speeding on pit road penalty even more obscure than it is now. Usually it's to the end of the longest line, but if you're going 143 mph or more it's a lap penalty (usually)

I'm now wondering if both practice sessions have been lumped into one because P-2 was supposed to start now and they haven't finished the first one.
Schrader just jumped back up to second.
MM to second
Marlin to 5th
jj from 50th to 14th
Flash & Jr still not looking good

Thank you Gabz for the link.
It must have been pretty hot there to buckle the track. I also read this morning they were using sprinklers to cool it off.
Hopefully they can fix it without leaving a problem there for the cars.

Having lived only a few miles from the track for many years, I can attest to how hot and humid it gets there :)
I agree with the track official about the company they hired - Kent Construction is one of (if not the) best in the area. If they say they can fix it without problems for the cars, I'm inclined to believe they are correct.
I'm not abig fan of Nascar, but I know there are many here who are - so when I saw the article this morning, I thought I would pass it along - but I should have known other FReepers would have beaten me to it :)

It's always nice to have first hand accounts of a story from local FReepers.
You're right there are a lot of us that follow the races every weekend.

Just heard on espn radio that a lot of teams are really poed when nascar made this and impound race in a decision during the middle of the week. Teams have long since based their strategy for this race on no impound and that all goes out the window. Now, they say, its back to guessing.
Baseball heads up:
Watch Zack Duke pitching against the Dodgers tonight for the Pirates (yea, Im a loser in all sports). Duke is 4-0 in 40 innings with an era of 0.92 as a rookie.
Well they are over two hours of practice now, so the two obviously have been put together. Finally seeing a few qualifying runs now.
Shrub is up to 4th
Rocket look out he's 5th at the moment
No one else has moved up or down much.

It really sucks that they can change this impound stuff at the last minute. I wondered because I have it listed as a normal qualifying race with NO impound in my notes!!

NASCAR really fouled things up with the rain yesterday. First they said there would be 2 practices today separated by a half-hour, then qualifying. Now, it's down to the 1 mega-practice (seems that half-hour break came early).
Speaking of qualifying, first it was supposed to be carried live, but with it being moved to 4:05 pm Eastern, TNT is now delaying it until 6 pm Eastern. As for the impound/no-impound bit, I haven't heard anything on it, much less a middle-of-the-week decision (the schedule up through yesterday was that there would be a post-qualifying Happy Hour).
Indy is cursed, I tell you, CURSED!

We're in full Silly-Season mode. The morning update from
Jayski -
- The planned 2006 testing regimen (leased tires, limited testing by manufacturer instead of by team) appears to be DOA thanks to the Kentucky Speedway lawsuit against NASCAR/ISC.
- Jon Wood has been set free from his Roush contract (he had been on loan to ST Motorsports); that frees him up to join the family business.
- Bill Davis, the leader of Toyota's NASCAR efforts, scoffed at the reported test of the Toyota Camry at AMS next week and said that there only that there would be an announement about Toyota's ventures "in the near future".
- McMurray has finally stopped thinking about using the Flash method of anger management on Kenseth and wants a truce.
- NAPA is likely to go with Mikey because they want an unobtainable driver to sign with DEI.
- Speaking of DEI, the Jrs (Earnhardt and Eury) will be back together in 2006.

I'll go with by TP (partly because I expect to be on my way to Lake Geneva Raceway before TNT makes it halfway); Busch qualifying is set for 6:05 Eastern over on Speed.
