Having lived only a few miles from the track for many years, I can attest to how hot and humid it gets there :)
I agree with the track official about the company they hired - Kent Construction is one of (if not the) best in the area. If they say they can fix it without problems for the cars, I'm inclined to believe they are correct.
I'm not abig fan of Nascar, but I know there are many here who are - so when I saw the article this morning, I thought I would pass it along - but I should have known other FReepers would have beaten me to it :)
It's always nice to have first hand accounts of a story from local FReepers.
You're right there are a lot of us that follow the races every weekend.
