Comcast has come up with a plan for local fans of the increasingly popular Sci Fi Channel that only a stockholder could love.
In the name of what a spokeswoman for the cable operator calls "conformity," it's bucking Sci Fi next week from the basic tier where two-thirds of its local customers now find it to a more expensive digital service where the other third already gets it.

Just as a side note, every analog channel is taking up the bandwidth of (about) two HD channels or four+ digital channels.
In the not too distant future (looks like end of 2008), it's all digital.
only for the first week. but that was a hardware issue in the receiver. don't know how it will react to snow yet, it's only been installed for a few months.
It was like a movie from Dan Ackroyd's old "Bad Cinema".
That was not so good now, was it.
ahh netflix that bast to get all the oldies and make copies.
Cable rates are approaching predatory
thats no lie, I pay about 125.00 for cable internet and digital cable. oh ya I have adelphia.
I swear, EVERY single time I look at the guide to see if there's anything interesting, it's all Stargate.... all the time...
No 6. At the bitrate that is used on WFXT you could get 4 HD stations out of it.
>you forgot the sarcasm tags<
Your right..that was a very sorry, poorly made film... ...the writers/directors/producters..and the Cast should be sent to North Korea, and work for TINY KIM.
:P
Maybe I'm the only one, but I thought last week's episode really dragged.
They need to bring the interesting characters back into the picture (Adama, Boomer, Starbuck)..
SG1 jumped the shark the minute Jack's onscreen time was reduced. : )
I stopped watching after the episode of Sam talking to herself and deciding the direction her life should take. *Rolling eyes*
I thought last season's finale should have been the season finale.
Well, I love my DISH network as well....we moved a couple of years ago and tried ComCast for a short while because we wanted the cable internet...what a disappointment after having Dish. The price was higher to begin with, and just kept going up. We switched to DSL and put our dish back up. I love being able to hit a button and have a synopsis on the screen when I am surfing. I'm told you can do that with cable, but we didn't have digital cable.
We moved to another area and are able to have cable internet from a different cable company without the bundling, so we now have the best of both worlds, IMO.
I think they had to make Daniel grow a beard, because the new guy looks very similar. Maybe if the ratings drop, Daniel can un-ascend naked again.
ROTFL We very seldom have rain and snow problems, but we do live in New Mexico, maybe that's why. The sun was shining when our dish went up.
Comcast is rapacious. That's why I moved to BellSouth DSL. If I get cable I will go for the Dish. I refuse to line their pockets. Plus what a bunch of misfits they have on their community affairs channels.... makes me want to puke. I catch glimpses of this when I visit others.
We had a similar situation when we sold our home. We had to move into an apartment for a year and decided to go with Comcast while we were there. It was awful! I haven't heard much about Dish Network but really ANY satellite service has to be better than cable. I suspect that cable companies are going to see a sharp decline in their subscriptions if they haven't already. People seem to think that satellite is a bigger hassle than cable but it's not.
You're not the only ones. Ratings have slid from the first season's numbers, though many reasons have been offered (summertime, less people watching tv, etc.),
But "dish" doesn't offer the NFL package. DirecTV does, and if you mention my name when switching, I get a month free! ;-) Sorry for the shameless plug!
To follow up a little late on this thread -
Comcast is the absolute worst... not only for their service, but for not showing Nationals games to their fans in the DC area.
Terrible!
