It just seems odd that in trivial things such as cars or homes, people are not allowed to "have a trial run." Try driving a car off the lot and telling the dealer that you'll drive it for a few years and decide if you want to buy it. Try living in a house without paying for a year while you "decide if you really like it." Shack-jobs are a cop-out; a road taken by people who want to "play house", but not take on any responsibility for themselves or the other person.
If folks think that they have enough of a connection to "live together", then they should go all the way and make their bond official and life-long. Just my two-bits worth...
